Tough Choices
If listen at your comp and you listen via speakers because its comfortable - Then focus on that for now. Your sony as you said is "good" but your comp setup is not where as good right? So id recommend focusing on your comp setup. And yes you will need decent speakers for good sound.- JT Vanguard

Upgrade from Clip for a better EQ
There are the Sony E and S series mp3 players that have a decent EQ for $50-125 - I recommend you give the sony walkman a try and see how you like their EQ- JT Vanguard

I have listened to a Sansa Fuze and a Sony E-344 side by side. un-EQ'd there is a difference in Sound Signature between the two players and is truly up to personal choice. The Fuze has a very balanced SQ where you can hear every sound/instrument/vocals at an equal volume providing a more...- JT Vanguard

HELP: Apple Nano or Sony S-series
I highly recommend checking out the E-series considering the S and E have the same sound - just the S has a few more features that you may or may not use. Also you can get the E series for quite a bit cheaper if you look around. btw did i mention the E series is also smaller and lighter??- JT Vanguard
