Ultrasone Pro 550 vs. Denon AH-D2000 [QUESTIONS]

Hey I have been considering buying both of these headphones (Ultrasone Pro 550 & Denon AH-D2000) after trying them today at the store. They did sound very similar. Unfortunately, they were both new units and have not been burned in. So I have some questions for the Head-fi'ers' who know the...

    USB Amp for Denon D2000s?

Hey I am looking for a good USB amp for my Denon D2000s. Budget is <$150 I will be using it with my laptop, which has a bad sound card, which is exactly why I need a USB amp (although I still need a line in for my PSP). All my music is 320kbps AAC. Any recommendations will be greatly...

    Suggestions for Headphones $200 + / -

From what I have read, the 840's bass only gets tighter after burn in. An amp could definitely boost the bass, but not without making it sound artificial. I would give the D2000s a shot if I were you.

    Help me spend my money!

senn 595 maybe? response is flat but bass isn't lacking, should go well with your music. they should sound great without an amp, but they will benefit from one of course. $180 on amazon i think. EDIT: sorry, i just re-read your post, the 595s are open headphones. for closed headphones you...

Hey First off, thank you Head-Fi, I wouldn't have been able to get this far in my decision without everyone's expertise. I have been looking for a new pair of headphones for the past few weeks. After a lot of research, I think that the best cans for me are the D2000s. However, if you...

Close to buying Denon AH-D2000s, should I get an amp?

i don't know why everyone says that the d2000 needs an amp. i don't have them, but based on the specs it looks pretty easy to drive; its only 25 ohms
