UE Triple.Fi 10 goes Custom
I've heard of good results doing molds with a self impression kit. I imagine not much could go wrong if you read the instructions carefully, and watch videos. The one kozee offers actually includes 3 kits, so you get a couple tries. I think some of the other diy kits are like that too...- Foie

UE Triple.Fi 10 goes Custom
Quick update on the group buy: There have been issues in the past with groups strongly pressuring competitors and pitting them against each other, that in one instance actually led a vendor to sell the item at a loss. Since then, Jude has been very weary of such "predatory" actions that...- Foie

Coldplay - Mylo Xyloto
My first reaction to Every Teardrop is a Waterfall was "Ouch!" It plays in a range of -10db to 0db, rarely dropping below -10, making it almost impossible to enjoy for me, even if the music was good. I'm a huge fan of Coldplay, but their music production is becoming terrible. It would be nice... -
Headphone Sightings 2
I go to Pepperdine: One of my friends has an XB500, another just got Creative Aurvana Live, and I've been spreading around some Meelec M9 goodness as well. Saw a rando with MDR7506 too. Otherwise, way too many beats by dre headphones. ugh.- Foie

Headphones.com is giving away a pair of Creative Aurvana Lives: Tell us about the best live show you've ever seen
My best live Show was Coldplay in 2008, Viva La Vida tour. It was also my first concert! I just remember the music, lights, and kettle corn so well. My favorite part was Yellow, and all the lights and balloons. It was just an amazing night :)- Foie

A couple weeks ago, the price dropped to 49.99 a few times. I hesitated and lost out, but that price may show up again. Keep an eye out! Edit: on amazon, that is.- Foie

How do I tell if Apple IEMs on eBay are legit?
I believe the legit ones will include nothing but the IEMs, plastic case and other tip sizes, won't be new, and will probably ship from California. I wouldn't trust the other ones, especially if they ship from China.- Foie

Is anyone happy with just one headphone?
Kind of. I was stuck in the budget rut for a while for IEMs. I was moving from soundmagic, meelecs, ADDIEMs, etc. Then I came across a good deal for the TF10s and jumped on it. I know it's not as good as a lot of IEMs, but it is still high end and can compete, and I know I'll never find...- Foie

Rank the IEM's you've heard
Kinda short and maybe incomplete/inaccurate TF10 >> ADDIEM > Meelec M9 ~ Soundmagic PL30 > Bose triport > CX300 > various crappy buds and such- Foie

I'm looking for headphones with the best price/performance at the more or less $100 price range. Mostly looking into closed cans, because I'll do most of my listening in my dorm and don't want to disturb my roommate, especially at night. Here are some I'm contemplating at the prices I can get...- Foie

Confessions of a failing audiophile
Well, most of the time I simply use my gear to listen to my music, videos and what not. But I'm still interested in looking for a difference on file types and sizes, and occasionally I like to listen analytically to compare products and such. I hear all he time how flac is required for getting...- Foie

Confessions of a failing audiophile
So, I finally got around to doing some abx testing today with my TripleFi. I used foobar2000. Results were good, but still depressing. I compared 3 different tracks, all originating in FLAC and converted to 128kbps mp3 (lame). I tested each about 5 times. I scored 100% on all tracks, so...- Foie

I'm pretty sure that it is my laptop's sound card. It's an HP with IDT High Definition Audio. On my Nano the sound quality is significantly better. Here's what I used to test the bitrate differences. It's a song from the Chesky Head-fi album: ...- Foie

Confessions of a failing audiophile
Wow, this thread has really taken off. Well, I have some good news. I've recently discovered that my laptop's soundcard is quite bad. I think this the main reason why I couldn't notice differences in high quality recordings. I totally agree that it's most important to enjoy the music vs...- Foie
