The Qudelix-5K thread
Blimey. It seems that their express shipping service is really express. Picked up on Thursday arriving after 2 working days (to UK). Recently, I started to experiment with those little BT wonders. I also have Shanling UP4 so it would be interesting to experiment/compare things and decide which...- Incognito73

Matrix Mini-i Pro Impressions?
I have Matrix Mini-I Pro2 (latest version) ... 1. Yes, both are active! I was using XLR straight to my Hypex power amps and RCA to subwoofer. 2. I did find remote excellent! 3. I believe that anti-pop relay circuit is in place as there are no sound artefacts when powering off/on or changing...- Incognito73

Questyle CMA600i first impressions thread
Soldering is needed, I'm afraid. If you are OK with SMD soldering you can do it yourself ... but if your unit is still under warranty I would suggest to get in touch with nearest distributor as that's certainly best route to take. Trouble is that new IC flash chip needs to be soldered and...- Incognito73

Questyle CMA600i first impressions thread
Just to report that SCV distribution (Questyle distributor) installed the latest IC flash chip and programmed the updated firmware for my CMA600i. They are top people to deal with, so I would recommend that any UK based CMA600i owner get in touch with them about the update. Unfortunately...- Incognito73

Questyle CMA600i appreciation ...
It was the biggest surprise for me, this year! Approach was based on rather reserved expectations, but left hugely impressed at the very end (and I've bought it blindly without any information at hand). Additionally, excellent AKM4490 implementation ... compared to some ESS 9108 designs I've...- Incognito73

Questyle CMA600i appreciation ...
Just stumbled across the Tone Publications CMA600i review: http://www.tonepublications.com/review/the-questyle-cma600i-headphone-ampdac/ Apart from the few (ergonomic) control issues I've observed (from above) I could pretty much wholeheartedly agree with the review. It's exemplary...- Incognito73

Questyle CMA600i appreciation ...
A week ago I got the chance to own CMA600i and I'm quite impressed with this unit. Firstly, CMA600i is of very good quality maybe a bit darker/laid back then what would by my norm and in turn such sonic signature may introduce some detail retrieval in the process but nothing on the drastic...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
Ha! That's a bit harsh. I do wonder though, if there are any automated-repercussions on other side of the fence, if LHLabs themselves don't sideline with 48-72 rule!- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
OK ... got the Pulse X V2.0 firmware from this very forum. Thanks Leon! Surely, compared to dreadful LHLabs (direct) one, quite more efficient support going on here. *** Forgot to mention. If any users of this DAC are interchanging the firmware files between themselves (on this forum or...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
Well, yes, sort of. Difference between the X and Xfi is just femto clocks and capacitors, resistors, op-amps PCB upgrade but baseline (XMOS USB control chipset namely) is the same. With X I can select femto digital filter form the display apart form the fact that femto clocks are not physically...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
OK ... I've been sniffing around a bit and it seems that there is a V2 firmware in the wild and that helped with USB stability. As I'm not sure if firmware files are interchangeable between Pulse/X/Xfi models, could some kind soul share or PM the Pulse X V2 firmware? LHlabs is not responding for...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
It's Windows machine and the guy evaluated Pulse on two laptops, changed USB cable etc. I was using my own linear PSU and USB cable with the Pulse, so never tested the bundled ones but I believe that PSU wouldn't not cause such issues as, for example, other inputs are fine. He mentioned that he...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
Hi there, I was using Geek Pulse X hapilly for few months and then move it on for sale to fund the new project. Now, new user is claiming that USB connection is pretty much unusable as endless ammount of nursing is needeed for DAC to be recognised or used. It will just dissappear as device...- Incognito73

Matrix Mini-i Pro Impressions?
Curiously, is anyone planning to move on Mini-i Pro (preferably 2015 version)? It may just be perfect for my new project. I did have original (firstly) released Mini-i at a time and was quite pleased with it. I'm based in the UK.- Incognito73

Any first hand experience with Audio In Motion SC808 PCIe sound card?
Just stumbled across this sound card and it may offer really decent alternative to usual Essence or ZXR offerings. It really seems well put together, so just wondering if anyone had a play with this? Product info: http://www.aimpro21.com/prod_sc808.asp Only relevant review found...- Incognito73

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR
Ah ... not alone then! It looks to me as it's not initalised on-time from the BIOS itself or simply put sound card PCIe controller is playing up. So no cure for this? It's a bit baffling that production version is suffering from this. I've bought the card recently (it was Amazon offer) so it...- Incognito73

Creative Sound Blaster new series Z, Zx & ZxR
Did anyone had OS detection problems with ZXR? Well, basically, completely on random basis after reboot or standby/resume card is not detected any more and just disappears from the device manager?! There is still some device named "Sound Blaster ZXR controller" or so but no trace from the main...- Incognito73

Integrated+DAC (Peachtree Nova 65SE, NAD D7020, etc.)
Just slight correction. NAD 3020D do support pre-out! That small marked 3.5mm port just below 3.5mm analogue input is pre-out (you may connect active sub, active speakers or power amp). Effectively, it's pre-amp in proper sense. I can recommend Pro-Ject MaiA integrated ... it may fit your...- Incognito73

iFi iDSD Micro DSD512 / PCM768 DAC and Headphone Amp. Impressions, Reviews and Comments.
Well ... I have iDSD Micro and iUSB power unit on order at the moment, but NOT because of the iDSD pairing (exclusively). iDSD micro does have excellent USB implementation indeed (iPurifier is already in place) and battery power is at hand. Idea was that I use iUSB with my other external...- Incognito73

REVIEW - AUNE AUDIO S16 - Single box DAC and Headphone Amplifier.
I' I'm hearing this a lot lately. Why do you think that China (or Far East for the matter) is unable to design, deliver and support decent HiFi product and ask decent sum for it? It's just blatant ignorance in my view. Aune is not some faceless outfit. They are part of the broad China...- Incognito73

Geek Pulse: Geek desktop DAC/AMP by Light Harmonics
Over a year waiting time for DAC is a long lifespan. It's rapidly changing, ever developing technology (compared to other HiFi venues) and prices are going down. These days you can buy pretty much transparent DAC for decent sum and competition is already doing some rather interesting things...- Incognito73

A rather positive "mini" review (French): http://www.qobuz.com/fr-fr/info/Hi-Fi-Guide/Bancs-d-essai/Aune-S16-Qobuzissime-pour-ce-DAC176486 Interestingly enough, they do have quite detailed S16 "inside" pictures with good description of components. If someone is after a bit more...- Incognito73
