Yes, sent it back. UM definitely covered a socket repair for me, many years ago. It was 2-pin socket that just too loose. ACS and others too from what I remember on here, when T2 BaX cables were being problematic.- Aeneas

So... my loose socket failed and damaged one of the connectors. Very disappointed to be honest. I would understand the cable not being covered after a year or if a dog had chewed it, but this is damage because of the socket. I'm tempted to just cut my losses at this point. Have you ever heard...- Aeneas

Anyone had any issues with the sockets/cable? Or quality control in general? My socket has failed (loose) over time. What I thought was an issue in my ear when I turned my head was actually the socket, and then I saw bent and broken pins when I unplugged it! And to think I mainly bought Jolene...- Aeneas

A couple of days in now... I typically have the bass dial at the default 5 o'clock, and sometimes at 3 o'clock. From this thread I thought 3 would be best, but I dial it back up for some genres where you just think punchier bass will help, and then I don't get round to dial it down again. I've...- Aeneas

I’ve had mine for a few hours now and I’m happy! Initial thoughts below. Not as dark as I initially expected, which seems to be in line with other people’s impressions so far and is not a criticism. Bass is far from overwhelming even with the dials turned all the way up. Pretty neutral and...- Aeneas

Westone W60 Impressions Thread
Does anyone know if the W60 AutoEQ settings are for the v1? Would the change be very different for the v2? Any tips or recommended settings? Starting from those settings, a less pronounced change sounds better to me…- Aeneas

Sennheiser has been sold!
I didn't know that. Phonak IEMs were pretty popular around a decade ago. The audiological expertise was part of the appeal too.- Aeneas

Bowers & Wilkins PI7
Why is it off the mark and misleading? I'm not even saying Powerbeats Pro sounds good that good (that's why I've bought the PI7 and others), but that PI7 sounds awful with ANC turned off, and is hardly impressive when it is turned on. Is your source significantly better than mine (Apple Music...- Aeneas

This is so wrong on so many levels. Bluetooth technology exists and is developing; the convenience of TWS is obvious. It started long before Apple introduced a product in this segment and would have happened regardless. To say Apple is dominating the market because it’s a tech company ignores...- Aeneas

If you’re going to quote, don’t blatantly misquote. It’s pathetic. I stand by this. With ANC off the sound is very dull. Overall not a significant improvement for me.- Aeneas

Just got mine. A massive disappointment! ANC for me is negligible in terms of noise cancelling. Maybe it works for airplane engines and hum, but for traffic and ambient street noise it does nothing at. But it is there — it activates with a little pop and you hear a very slight hum. The sound...- Aeneas

Not sure why but the price has dropped a lot on Amazon UK recently – brown has been £203 for a while and now white is £197 (that's including 20% VAT). Every time I log in it's in my face but sadly not for me.- Aeneas

Can I turn custom silicone ear plugs into ear tips?
I have an old pair of custom silicone ear plugs (not full concha) that I don’t use and will soon replace with a softer pair for sleeping. I was wondering if I could turn them into eartips for my sport or backup IEM. I like both but they’re not comfortable over longer periods. Custom tips seem...- Aeneas

I think it was the old one. It was a few years ago. It just seemed a hell of a lot bigger than almost all of the competition. But I've not had much luck with bigger units by any brand, e.g. the StageDiver series seemed to work really for most people, but it didn't for me. In any case, ordered...- Aeneas

Definitely, but also the adjustment module seems handy (compared to, say, removable modules or filters – never bothered to roll when I've had the option the past, with ADEL/APEX and so on). Still, a recessed 2-pin would have totally been fine – if a suitably reliable TWS adapter came along I...- Aeneas

Lucky you for getting a good/comfortable fit with universals I guess. I tried a universal Layla at a store in Japan and realised it wouldn't work, at least not if I wasn't just sitting down when listening. Customs to me feel like very big decision, not to mention the time and costs of...- Aeneas

I'm in the process of ordering Jolene too. I was ready to order but the non-recessed 2-pin sockets put me off. I had a UM CIEM over a decade ago that started to fall off because of this and I thought everyone used recessed sockets now.- Aeneas
