AKG k240 DF or k340 for a jazz person
Old thread, I know. But I'm getting more and more passionate about these two headphones (akg k240 df and k340). And I have another view on this subject. For jazz I pick up the k240df - everytime. To me the k340 sounds too beefy. I love them - but not for jazz and classical. K240df -...- librarian

The Stax Thread III
My first Stax setup :-) Colorfly C4 > Isabellina HPA LFP-V Ed. > Indeed TA2021 > SRD-6 > Stax SR-Lambda The two headphones are same model, but sound a little different. One is brighter than the other. And one has a bit of "warm-up" time before sound comes through (5 sec...) Is...- librarian

AKG K340 vs Stax Lambda: survey
I recently got myself a pair of Stax SR-Lambda (normal bias) and a pair of K340 (not sure which version, but not bass-heavy) Driving the Lambda through the speaker output on a mini-stereo in the living room (with the SRD-6 adaptor). Driving the K340 through a Isabellina HPA (LFP-V Edition)...- librarian

Entering electrostats - where's the sweet spot for a nice setup?
Got the original SR-Lambda normal bias. Ordered an Indeed T-amp based on the Tripath ta2021 chipset. Listened shortly to the headphone with SRD-6 hooked up on a Audio Pro Stereo One with 2x40w in 8ohms. Not the best source, but I listened just to hear if the headphone was allright. And it...- librarian

Entering electrostats - where's the sweet spot for a nice setup?
I just found a good deal on a pair of Stax Lambda normal bias. They are bundled with a srd-6 energizer. 1. As I don't have a power/speaker amp, I need to know how much the amp will affect the sound...? 2. What kind of amp would be a good match in this system: Isabellina DAC > [amp] >...- librarian

Entering electrostats - where's the sweet spot for a nice setup?
dafo: No doubt, an audition with diferent stax-setups would be very interesting. But I don't want to bother hififreaks, when I'm not ready to buy anything yet... nameless: thanks for your response. I don't have a speaker amp. Head-fi only:-) What makes the original normal bias stax...- librarian

Entering electrostats - where's the sweet spot for a nice setup?
I'm not in any hurry, as I haven't collected the cash yet. But I think that I somewhere along the road will get into electrostats. I have only listened to HE-60 and a Stax model which name I forgot. These HE-60 are pretty high end, and they sounded incredibly good. What I recall is impressive...- librarian

What Closed Back - Please help
AKG K550 is an option. But the cups are pretty big, so I don't know if they will fit you while lying down... Sound is great for the price. I think they may be brighter than HD650, though...- librarian

Beyer Dynamic T70 - Barely a Beyer? (Review)
I know, I was stupid to put it that way:-) But I'm so happy for my T70. And for me it has outclassed several headphones costing a lot more than the T70. I just thought this thread needed another perspective. I didn't want someone who never heard the T70 to think, that it was a total no-go...- librarian

How do the AKG K550's compare to the other headphones listed in the thread?
sorry to bump an old thread, but i need to state, that the k550 isn't lacking bass imo. T70 is my primary headphone, and I chose it above a lot of more expensive headphones out there. To me they do everything just as I want it. I had the K550 some time ago, and I used it when I wanted just a...- librarian

Isabellina HPA LFP-V Edition: review and listening impressions
It has a switch on the back for choosing battery or power supply mode, and there's no problem in having the unit turned on in charging mode. But for critical listening, battery mode is recommended. I hear some noise, when the power supply is turned on. not really bad, and I can enjoy music very...- librarian

ATH-W1000X Thread!
Now I got my pair recabled with 8 wire cryo copper, and I got the L3000 pads too! I enjoy it even more now. Not sure about changes in sound. The pads really don' change the sound, but the cable might have tightened it up a bit. And I feel it has become a tiny bit brighter overall.- librarian
