    Sennheiser HD 650 - iPhone

One of the questions was will they even work. Yes, they WILL work. It won't the absolute best sound you would ever be capable of getting out of a 650, but they WILL work. I don't agree with those that say they sound fine, I think maybe those people haven't heard them at their best. But I think...

    HD 598 vs HD 600/650

Okay, thanks. (I thought it was just me.) Wearing the LCD-2s does take commitment. If you're happy with the 598s stay with them. They're highly regarded around here. My old 595s were my "go to cans" for just about everything. I''m hoping my 598s will take their place.

    HD 598 vs HD 600/650

And you, as well. If you have LCD-2s why are you wanting more? They're fine headphones.

    HD 598 vs HD 600/650

I know, I know. I agree with everything else iancraig10 said, but my mileage varied on this one. It's a tossup between the 650s and 600s. If you like bass the 650s are definitely bassier than the 600s and both are better cans than the 598s, but the 598s are nice, just not quite the same level.

    HD 598 vs HD 600/650

If you like bass, go with the 650s. I may be in the minority here, but I think the 598s may have as much or more bass than the 650s. But keep in my mind I JUST got my 598s.

    Headphones/Earphones emergency!!!

Sorry, I'm not much into closed. Other than that, for warranty, Koss can't be beat. My son REPEATEDLY sends in his KSC-75s and they keep giving him new ones. My Porta-pros have held up well for years, but I don't worry about them because I know if they day ever comes, they'll replace them. I...

    HD 598 vs HD 600/650

Yes. I agree with everything iancraig10 has said. I have the 650s and sometimes wish I had the 600s. Hope that helps.

What do you listen to and where do you listen to it? Do they need to be portable? Open or closed?

Returned New Westone 4's - Trying Klipsch X10i's

I happen to love the X10s. I think they have some things over my SE535s. They're more fun and they hit harder. Drums are fantastic with them. Yeah, the bass is not any where up to the 535s, but they are very enjoyable. You said they seemed flimsy. I suppose so. They are very small and very...

When do you need an amp?

There's not a price point where you need an amp. It's all up to you. Some headphones really do need an amp, some don't, that's the sensitivity and impedance issue. Cmoys aren't useless, but they are limited. I would say it's best to go for the most you can afford, it will save you upgrading...

    Sennheiser HD 650 - iPhone

They're open, so they leak a LOT of sound. A LOT. Someone across the room can hear it if you have it a comfortable volume.

    Sennheiser HD 650 - iPhone

I have an iphone 4 and HD650s, it's not that bad. There's plenty of bass, granted it's not the best in the world,an amp would improve it by cleaning it up. But the frequencies are there, just not as tight as it can get with a good amp. As far as volume, it gets loud enough to listen to but...

sparkling highs for vocals help $150 budget

Quote:   On, and I wouldn't describe them as warm. I also wouldn't say they're harsh.

Quote: Check your seal. I have the SE535s, they are very mid-centric, but I wouldn't say tinny. I've also read that Balanced Armatures don't really need break-in, but I suppose it can't hurt.

    Why do you Love the Grado Sound {Grado Fans}

Grados don't do classical very well. They're not good with congestion. Other things they do exceedingly well. You really need to audition them to see if you like them.

S4's will not stay in ear?!

I would think large if you can't get them to stay in. Anyway, are you having trouble getting a seal? I put mine in "upside down" and run the wire over the top of the ear and to the back. That helps with the seal and to keep them in.

Headphone questions -earbuds, full sized, and portable

Quote: I'm sorry, when you said earbuds, I thought you meant earbuds, not iems. Actually I think the quality of sound is comparable between cans and iems.

Headphone questions -earbuds, full sized, and portable

Question 1, yes, I don't like earbuds. Question 2, more than likely yes. Question 3, no, you don't really need an amp, and yes, portable amps use batteries. I'd say get a good pair of headphones that don't need an amp. What's your budget and what do you listen to?

    Headphone Upgrade: HD600 vs K701

I hear the 701s are very amp dependent, even more picky than the HD600s. I'd say in this case, the HD600s are more versatile and that is odd because they are not known for that, but against the 701s I think they are. Please keep in mind, I fall into that category of not liking the 701s, but if...

    Grados...

I agree that the 225s are more exciting, but not on the soundstage, but that's my impression. I love the 225s, but I find them fatiguing after extended periods. The RS1s for 55 pounds is incredible. It would have been tempting to resell them for a profit. Anyway, have fun deciding, you can't go...

Hello, I am looking for a set of in ear's,

Klipsch X10. I am beginning to sound like a fan boy, I know, but they really can't be beat for comfort. I would call them fairly neutral sounding and they isolate very well.
