Monolith M1060C Closed Back Planar Headphones impressions
I read about this mod but really want closed back to keep some sound out, and EQ just didn't do enough. Plus my DT770 feelings were hurt 🤕- tim3320070

Monolith M1060C Closed Back Planar Headphones impressions
I haven't posted in a long time, recently purchased these and unfortunately returning them I was not willing to mod them, I wanted closed back headphones, the clarity is excellent the air is quite good, no doubt pretty good headphones just not substantially better than my mildly modified dt770...- tim3320070

FM Tuner?
Well the difference in HD vs analog on the Sangean is substantial here in Chicago, not even close, it's like 1950s vs. a CD and NPR is like you're in the studio with them on my system- maybe try a Sangeon, they are on eBay here and there.- tim3320070

FM Tuner?
my local HD broadcasts in Chicago are substantially better quality than the standard feed through the sangeon (it is not subtle), just my direct experience. I was never looking for audiophile sound just a quieter, more refined feed what is your experience with HD radio?- tim3320070

Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread
I owned the 7000 for a few years and I currently own the 650 (for the 3rd time!).The 7000 is a fun headphone with amazing bass and is still quite resolving while the 650 is more even and natural sounding, both are excellent.- tim3320070

Emotiva Big Ego and Little Ego
Not stirring the pot but Emotiva builds everything in China. I have owned a few different items from them but have found I prefer Audio-gd across the board. Their powered monitors are excellent however.- tim3320070

Three New Amps on Preorder from Audio-GD (C-2 11th Anniversary Edition, NFB-1AMP, NFB-3AMP)
This is helpful even though it's a Grado: http://www.head-fi.org/t/431493/balanced-xlr-conversion-howto-grado-gs1000 It's always good to use a multimeter to double check -+, they are cheap and I found myself using it a lot of times when experimenting with different headphones over the years...- tim3320070

HD downloaded tracks vs 192Hz/24bitdepth DAC music
I have asked the same years ago, there is no answer because 99% of sound quality is the quality of it's original recording regardless of sample rate, blah, blah. Ripped remastered CDs are all you want despite sample rate marketing.- tim3320070

Three New Amps on Preorder from Audio-GD (C-2 11th Anniversary Edition, NFB-1AMP, NFB-3AMP)
I owned an xpa2 for a while, powerful but i sold it due to what I felt was a bit of glare and edge to the sound, never have I heard glare from any of my numerous agd products including my monster C10SE amp- tim3320070

A good setup? Emotiva 4s // Outlaw M8 // Scarlett 2i4
Just received the 5s running from a much higher end pre/DAC than necessary (down sizing, long story) but the bass from these are more than I expected. Not sub woofer levels in depth but I had to tone them down to the lowest setting. I love deep bass too but you might be okay with the 5s as-is...- tim3320070

**Hifiman HE-400 Impressions and Discussion Thread**
No problem but the O2 with DAC is $279 plus shipping and tax so about the same as the NFB-15 for a lot less features and power supply/regulation. If $300 is too high, I would stick with the E17. I had it and thought it pretty darn good. A lot of people use a banana...- tim3320070

Try the pleather pads- I don't hear spiky treble. If you were to upgrade, I would consider the Audio-gd NFB-15 for about $300 shipped. Also, if you have a desk with an edge, try the Koss- http://www.amazon.com/Koss-Hold-Phone-Stereophone-Black/dp/B002AO83HQ Yes, I have all items mentioned.- tim3320070

HE-9 is $650 more than Master-9. He actually has taken some time to bring out new stuff, upgraded designs used to come every few months (Master-5/6/8/9, I have the Master-5).- tim3320070

Used Energy speakers like the RC10 or the older eXL (eXL-16 are superb for the money) series are great. I also like older Mirage with the gold dome tweeters like the M490. ...- tim3320070
