Amarra - anyone using it?
I'm baffled by the problems Amarra has with library management. Foobar, which is a free download, has had excellent library management for a dozen years if not longer. Amarra, which soaks their customers every year or more for another $50 or $100 bucks or whatever, is a total train wreck with...- GungaDin

Amarra - anyone using it?
Amarra is the most frustrating software I've ever used and I remember the days of Windows 3 and other “primitive” software. Absolutely nothing is easy or smooth with Amarra. I recently put a new SSD in the Mac mini I use with Amarra and, following the instructions to the letter, have not been...- GungaDin

Music player for OSX
I like Vox. https://vox.rocks If you don't mind paying, Amarra has very good sound quality. Amarra 3 is dated and clumsy but they're releasing a greatly updated Amarra 4 some time in the next couple of months. http://www.sonicstudio.com/amarra/index.php Their Amarra sQ+ for streaming...- GungaDin

ALAC to AIFF
Audio Interchange File Format (AIFF) was developed by Apple. It's not specific to any particular operating system but has mostly been used with Macs since Apple was the originator. It's true they are, like WAV files, not compressed. Their biggest advantage over WAV files is that AIFF files...- GungaDin

Windows 10 has better sound quality than Windows 7! (On my computer; not necessarily yours.)
I upgraded from Windows 7 to Windows 10 and definitely noticed a marked improvement. So much so that i didn't feel a need to use Fidelizer anymore. Fidelizer probably would still help but I don't feel as much need for it. My main music machines are Macs with Amarra so I don't spend a lot of time...- GungaDin

Bughead Emperor = virus...Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]
Thank you for checking it out. Yes, I ran it through Malware Malbytes and also the site you listed and it looks clean. I'm not sure if I should delete this thread or leave it up for anyone else who gets a false positive.- GungaDin

Bughead Emperor = virus...Win32:Evo-gen [Susp]
I read a few good reviews of the Bughead Emperor music player so I started to download the 32-bit version from the developer's website: http://oryaaaaa.world.coocan.jp/bughead/index.html My Avast antivirus stopped the download with an alert stating that the download contained the Win32:Evo-gen...- GungaDin

CanOpener?
I bought this and thought I'd give a quick try out. I've been listening to music through it for about an hour and a half now. I'm pleasantly surprised by how great it sounds. This is the best, most listenable crossfeed I've used. I'm not some super duper expert on crossfeed but I've tried...- GungaDin

Amarra - anyone using it?
Is iTunes radio playable through the Amarra engine? I'm a new Amarra user and I'd asumed it would be but it won't play unless I disable Amarra's engine and let the iTunes engine handle iTunes radio play. Rather disappointing.- GungaDin

"Audiophile" - music player for iPad
http://audiophileapp.com/ I'm surprised there are no threads on this player because it sounds quite good, it plays flac and wav files, and it's free. I don't use any of the "sound enhancements" like EQ or any of that and, as is, I think the sound quality is excellent. The playlist works...- GungaDin

Jazz Recommendations from this Century
I used to find out about all kinds of great newer musicians by listening to an online station called Barcelona Jazz Radio but, unfortunately, they seem to have gone kaput. http://www.barcelonajazzradio.com/ A lot of the best, most listenable jazz comes out of Europe. I've always liked the... -

Atomic Records' classical vinyl is in the back right corner of the store. Some in the bins up top and more on the lower shelf. -
Best classical recordings...ever!
Eh...not really true. Amoeba Music and Atomic Records in Burbank charge anywhere between .50 cents and $10 or even $20 bucks depending on desirability and condition. Thrift stores aren't really in the music business so they're a different story. -

Bruckner: Symphony No. 7 - Herbert von Karajan and the Berlin Philharmonic Mahler: Symphony No. 2 - Pierre Boulez and the Vienna Philharmonic Mahler: Symphony No. 7 - Leonard Bernstein and the New York Philharmonic Massenet/Gounod, "Le Cid" and "Faust" - USSR Bolshoi Theater Orchestra... -
Music that makes you cry?
Sting - Why Should I Cry For You. I'm not even a particularly big Sting fan but this one just kills me. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t2dhw0fMB80 The Mahler mentions made me think of the Adagietto from his 5th symphony. Doesn't necessarily make me cry but I think it might have... -
Best classical recordings...ever!
Quote: I just picked up the Bohm/Vienna Philharmonic box set on vinyl for $9.99 at my local used record shop. 8 clean, immaculate, perfectly flat Deutsche Grammophon records in paper/plastic sleeves. Very few pops or clicks. Sweet! My best deal on anything in months. Sounds wonderful... -
Most Underrated Rolling Stones Album - "Undercover" - 1983
I have a few bootlegs that I've downloaded over the last couple of years. The only one I've had for a long time is called "Ft. Worth Express" that I actually got at the old record swap at the University of San Francisco many years ago. It's from a June 24th, 1972 gig. Really, really good. I... -
Most Underrated Rolling Stones Album - "Undercover" - 1983
I agree. I think some of the Stones' '80's work was unjustly sneered at just because they were a bit out of fashion at the time compared to all the synthesizer shlock that was popular at the time. The '80's synth bands have largely been forgotten and for good reason. They were awful. The Stones'... -
Relaxing/Pure music for studying?
Rainy Mood is a good one. Tetsuo Inoue has done some great stuff. If you're trying to read or study, it's not too distracting and it's good for just relaxing. J.S. Epperson has a website with some great free tracks for focus and he has some hour-long tracks on Amazon that are only... -

Best classical recordings...ever!
I used to have Rudolf Serkin's versions of the Mozart piano concertos on vinyl. They were recorded in the late '60's and '70's. Incredibly moving. Just brilliant. For my taste, it was the best Mozart music of any kind I've ever heard. I've since purchased what I thought were the same recordings... -
Tagging One Album with MULTIPLE GENRES? Is this possible? (Foobar/Android)
I just tested it in foobar 2000 and it works fine. I changed an album from just "Rock" to "Rock; Blues" and now it shows up in the blues genre also. I'm using foobar version 1.1.18. Are you using the latest version? Maybe there's some other problem.- GungaDin
