    Sony ULT Wear (WH-ULT900N)

negative, no ipx4 rating anywhere in the specifications or in the manual. Only sony's earbuds are water resistant, with regards to audio devices. even says it on the main page of the guide near the bottom https://helpguide.sony.net/mdr/2981/v1/en/index.html

    Sony ULT Wear (WH-ULT900N)

As always, Canada gets shafted with regards to pricing, 349 CAD is ridiculous. Depending on region, with tax it will be closer to $400. which is quite a lot to ask for here. In my opinion these should be max, 325-350 CAD after tax. For anyone in Canada considering these, wait for a price drop or...

    Sony MDR-M1ST - Sony's 2019 Studio Monitor Headphone

hey folks no idea if this will interest users but, supposedly a new model is coming, I don't have a specific date but it should be real soon The design is very close to what was shown by Sony in a video back in 2021 from CES. The vents are much thinner and longer on the sides and not divided in...

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

well hopefully Sony addresses the 10dB drop and releases a fix. Anyone read anything about users in Japan also experiencing this?

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

Indeed, the current manufacturer might be Pegatron in China, if the FCC documents are to be believed. Yes posting it up. I'd suggest a google docs spreadsheet with the data you guys are posting to keep track of which ones are affected and which are not. Thanks for all the work guys.

New Sony Walkman NW-A300 Series (Android 12)

hmm this is pretty disappointing, especially considering users have to import from different regions to get around the volume/output cap. Hopefully Sony can solve this via a firmware upgrade and this is not something hardware related.

    SONY NW-ZX700

A lot of the recent wireless headphones have connectors for the battery packs, so either for a user to replace but you need the correct battery and Sony has been moving from 3.7V to 3.85V on a lot of their products. From the press photos and teardowns on the zx500, there are 3 wires, same for...

    SONY NW-ZX700

I'd love to do a teardown, of both models, but I can't afford either of them right now, and any teardown would have to be on a second unit, since I would like to use one for my own use.

    SONY NW-ZX700

the battery is soldered to the board again, no connectors like in Sony's wireless headphones. So a user might be able to replace the battery, but they will need to be able to solder.

    SONY NW-ZX700

Hmm interesting site, looks decent. Anyone know any others? I wanted to put up a list of various sites for importing walkmans from Japan up on the blog. What sites are good and trustworthy. Either drop them in the thread here or DM me.

    SONY NW-ZX700

Ah yes, that site. a reseller of sony products, granted authorized, but not Sony themselves. thanks. The newer models use qualcomm, so perhaps easier as MrWalkman is wondering. Will have to make a post on the blog about this high gain no gain fiasco.

    SONY NW-ZX700

Curious where are you seeing the ZX707 in Canada? I don't see it on their website. I am guessing the high gain might be locked by software and not hardware, so perhaps there might be a way to unlock it.

    Sony WF-1000XM4 Impressions Thread

Not gray, white. The lighting is what makes them look grayish. There is one other unknown WF headset coming, YY2950, supposed to debut around the same time as the new walkmans, perhaps this might be some higher and model since it will also feature noise cancellation.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Yup most likely. Sony once offered me embargoed information if I signed NDAs, I said I would do it, but they never contacted me again, guess you gotta be one of the big boy tech sites/youtubers to get such stuff. I feel this is the case, we first need smartphones and other devices with LE...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Supposedly the new MT2822 is on a new manufacturing process so should improved power efficiency, if this will be enough to provide decent battery life with LDAC is unknown. I will mention this, Sony did toy with adding LDAC to the wf-1000xm3 during the development, but the play time with LDAC...

Good question, I suspect July/August, but I don't have that info just yet.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Indeed, would it be in their interest, my question is more for an unreleased TWS headset, specifically the WF-1000XM4. I don't have the exact time for when they will be released, the retail box design is supposed to be finalized in april/may with priduction starting shortly after, not sure what...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Hello everyone, perhaps someone would know the answer to this. With LE Audio coming this year, is it possible for a headset, whose Bluetooth SoC has been certified for BT 5.2 (with proper firmware upgrades and passing through appropriate certification bodies) be updated to support LE audio?

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Ok so digging through the BT cert and FCC, seems these earbuds use the QCC5121 https://www.qualcomm.com/products/qcc5121 So I wonder how the connection to an iphone will occur, is it daisy chain or truly wireless plus? TWS+ requires snapdragon 845 or above according to qualcomm's own site...
  23. Ascariss

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

Ya that is what I meant, devices without snapdragon would just use the old TWS connection, first connecting to one earbud and then that earbud connects to the other and not 2 direct separate connections to each individual earbud.

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

This is one reason Sony moved away from Qualcomm, in order to have truly wireless with Qualcomm's BT chips, the smartphone (or device) would need to use a high end Snapdragon SoC, either 845 or higher or the new 855, I do not recall. So this basically eliminates all iphones, ipods, walkmans from...

Going fully Wireless IEMs. Too soon? Or are we there yet?

It is more of a question if Qualcomm would provide/license Sony with the necessary codecs (receiver) for the chip in the WF-1000XM3. It would not be in Qualcomm's best interest to do that, and they'd rather Sony buy Qualcomm's BT chips with aptX support included. From my investigating, that...
