+1 on the Clip. Get Rockbox on it and never look back!

I want to reiterate what some have already mentioned, but still some are failing to take note of.   These IEMs need burn-in time. Don't expect them to sound great out of the box, burn them in, it's worth the wait.   The fit... can be a royal pain in the ass! I almost gave up on these...

Don't worry too much about getting an external sound card for a laptop. Chances are a new laptop will have an optical output which you can hook the e17 up to, and personally I find I have more success with optical out than usb.   I use the e17 with my laptop and also with a sansa clip+...

The Spitfire has it's own little power supply, you don't need to buy the Supplier (that's just an upgrade).

I rate the Firestone Audio Spitfire DAC, use it myself (although with the external Supplier psu) solely with the optical input. Can be had for £200 in the UK so I suspect it'll be a similar dollar price point.   Few threads knocking about, one here...

Got the Clip+ today & loaded up Rockbox. Can't fault it for the money, £26 from Amazon. Bargain.

Got my Clip+ today, first thing I did was Rockbox. The EQ is excellent, love having the parameters to play with.   Hooked to my E17, loving it. What a player for the money!

Mine just arrived. God, I hate plastic vacuum packaging!   Off to Tenerife in the morning for a few days, will see how these fair on flight duties.   I'll have to hire an oxy acetylene torch to get at them first though.

I'm off to Afghanistan in a few months - dragging a laptop, dac, psu, valve amp and full size cans around would be impossible.   I love the sound I'm getting with Foobar: big fan of the wasapi output and the dolby headphone wrapper.   I have a Cowon D2+, and have yet to decide on...
