Okay, so I received my replacement pair today earlier in the mail. It turns out they're another pair of IE8is, but "factory refurbished."

So as it turns out...I've been up since 11 pm listening to music with my IE8s. I CANNOT take these out of my ears. Also, I am finding it near impossible to go back to my TF10s now. The TF10s do have more pronounced treble, however I feel that the amount of detail between them and the IE8s are...

My IE8is arrived! HOORAY!!!   4 songs in, and I already love these things so damn much.....the bass and soundstage is exactly what I am looking for in an IEM. The mids and highs are there too in good detail, the highs aren't too harsh either. 

OK, three songs in, and I'm already loving these things so damn much.. 

My IE8is have arrived! I'll put some opinions on them after I spend a significant amount of time breaking them in. :)

I just ordered a pair of the IE8is direct from Amazon yesterday. One-day shipping ftw! They'll arrive sometime today so I can't wait :D   By the way, if anyone is wondering why I didn't wait for the IE80s, it's simple: I like my bass. That, and I've had over $350 in Amazon gift card money...

Hahaha, that's actually not a bad idea. Return them since Amazon's return policy is fantastic, then perhaps upgrade to the newer version. *grins*  However, I may just fall in love with the IE8s...

Well everyone, I've taken the plunge and successfully ordered the Sennheiser IE8i from Amazon directly (the IE8 version was out of stock, and it was about $30 more in price too, so whatever :P ). In total $292 for the IE8i version direct from Amazon, and one-day shipping...can't wait for these...

Hmm.....well I hear that since the IE 8s use dynamic drivers that the sound signature will become better over time with burn-in, correct?
