    Stock earbud appreciation thread

Let's not pretend anything; buds are where it's really at. Anyway, there's no place else the appreciation thread thing has to go now: why not let it implode to the tunes of some earbud cheering! Who walked around for how many years with stock earbuds? Come out clean and leave that mess...

    Fill in the DAC gap

How would you complete this chain? Bolds stay; non bolds are highly debatable. I really don't know whether USB is the way to go between computer and DAC. Any suggestions/educations/links are welcome -- I'm really trying to piece together and understand what's what in the 'computer as source'...

414 pads on Grados - do you stretch or what?

Sure, I hit the search and read that these pads unmodded slip right on Grados. But how, really? The 414 hole is 35mm and the diamteter of the cans which the have to fit is 54mm. This pad foam doesn't seem like it will take that amount of stretching. Help... me

    When buying used phones

As long as a headphones drivers aren't busted, is there any reason to be paranoid about the condition of the drivers? Is it as simple as either it's FUBAR or it's fine?

Are Senn HD-414 and HD-477 pads identical?

I want to try the often mentioned Senn pads with my Grados, but I can't get any 414's here. So, are these pads from the same mold?

    Older vs newer RS-1's

Those who have had the opportunity to A/B older (originally flat pads fitted) RS-1's and newer (originally bowl pads fitted), have you found, using identical pads on both pairs, that the older ones exhibit the identical low treble hump of the newer RS-1's? Maybe I just missed talk related to...

Quick Q: Are all DC RA-1's technically identical?

Are all DC RA-1's technically identical; i.e.has it ever been changed in any way? I recall reading something about the current stock of RA-1's being somehow different from those made years back -- I could definitely be mistaken, just checking to be sure.

Tight bass SS with X-Can's mids and highs?

It was a couple of years ago, and I auditioned SR-325's through an X-Can (V2; stock tubes AFAIK) and Cambridge 500 CDP. Sonic bliss, although I wished for more tightness and impact in the bass frequencies. Questions... Does any of RA-1, RS-71, GL (w/ or w/o dedicated PS) offer anything...

Freeware game for the gun affectionate

Do you fancy that .50 cal S&W slugger? Have a look at this game's weapon arsenal, listed below. I wouldn't be surprised to see the .50 S&W in an updated version of this game. Disclaimer: This is meant as a pure recommendation; the game is 100% freeware; no registration, no spyware. Nada. It's...

    Characteristics of Fixup's Superminis?

Are the Superminis (I'm mainly interested in V4, maybe V5) dark, or bright, or more like neutral? Are they relatively transparent? How do they sound with Grados?

    SACD?

Someone please explain what's the deal with SACD. Do only CDP's dedicated to SACD play the format? NAD C541i is on top of my source upgrade list, but I'll not make my move until I know enough about this new (or not so new?) format. Thanks for input!

Alessandro MS Pro -for electro and high energy rock?

I think this is really SR325 teritory (more so than RS-1's, which for me gets the nod for allround use, though). I haven't heard, only read about MSP, and I am curious if they are the better performer in electro/high energy rock, compared to RS-1.

    Supreme: weight and dimensions?

Hi all, I e-mailed Headroom to inquire the weight (incl. batteries) and dimensions of the Supreme and Cosmic amps respectively, but no answer. From what I've read on this forum and at Headwize, these aren't pocketsized, unless... well, just how big pockets do I need to carry a Supreme or a...
