Can I turn custom silicone ear plugs into ear tips?
I have an old pair of custom silicone ear plugs (not full concha) that I don’t use and will soon replace with a softer pair for sleeping. I was wondering if I could turn them into eartips for my sport or backup IEM. I like both but they’re not comfortable over longer periods. Custom tips seem...- Aeneas

Do you ever get used to hot ears from headphones?
I’ve owned and quickly moved on from a number of closed back over-ears in recent years. Never finding them totally comfortable is the main reason for moving on. My ears always get hot and I find myself taking them off way more than in-ears. I’ve tried various models and pad materials. It’s...- Aeneas

Is a high-end CIEM overkill with an iPhone and Apple Music as source?
I lost my 64 Audio A12 a while back and I’m looking at various CIEMs after being disappointed by over-ear ANC options (for the office and for travel). The way I see it, if I’m going to get a CIEM, I might as well get a good one because I’ll only regret it if I don’t. I’m looking at hybrid...- Aeneas

BW PX7 vs. DALI IO-6 vs. Sennheiser Momentum 3
It’s hard to track and post comparison in all three thread, and since many people will be choosing between these three, here is my comparison. I haven’t used over-ears for many years, but I lost my 64 Audio A12, so I bought a M3. But its battery life and design was terrible, so I returned it...- Aeneas

DIY 2.5mm to 3.5mm adapter
I’m looking to make a 2.5mm female to 3.5mm male adapter cable. It would be like FiiO L26 and others but longer. I have a long section of the cable cut from my 2.5mm balanced cable. Can anyone advise on how to proceed? I’ve bought a 2.5mm female plug but I’m not sure about the rest. TRS...- Aeneas

The very best workout in-ears (no price limit)
I've been through more workout headphones than normal headphones, it seems! At this point, I have no price limit (within reason–under, say $1000). Wireless Fully wireless earbuds tend to have some major issue. Usually poor audio quality or battery life. I've owned Jabra Elite 65T (appalling...- Aeneas

USA import duty on international repairs?
I sent a CIEM back to the USA (WA) for a repair and was charged $27 import duty (£20.99). The package was clearly marked as temporary repair import. Sent from the UK. Is that normal? (Very expensive too--FedEx International Priority cost me $82 + $27 import duty.)- Aeneas

Very best workout friendly in-ear? Non budget restriction
What is the very best in-ear for workouts? I've been looking for a while but nothing stands out. There's a significant negative to every wireless option I've seen, but wireless would be best. I don't think CIEM is the way to go because they'll quickly stop working I think. But beyond that...- Aeneas

Online music storage for portable DAP playback
Do people have any experience or recommendations when it comes to storing FLAC files in the cloud and accessing them remotely? The idea is to have local files on the cloud and the ability to listen to that music remotely, from a computer or DAP. Many of us now have great internet...- Aeneas

Workout (Gym) Bluetooth Headphones on a Budget -- Recommendations?
Please can you recommend some workout Bluetooth headphones. I will never use them outside the gym because I have customs and full-sized cans. Budget of about £50 ($80) maximum and I'm happy to buy a used pair if they're in excellent condition. I can't go over at all - I can only...- Aeneas

Custom IEM socket issues
Hey guys, I got my UM customs (with additional drivers) from a warranty repair back today. The problem was that one of the units (right) had a loose socket which caused it to fall off the cable and crack. They've fixed it. It took a long time, mostly because of postal issues on their...- Aeneas

Custom IEM case - Otterbox 1000 (?) or UE 'Zippo' or something else?
I've had a look through some of the old threads for IEM cases but I don't how many of the smaller ones (I want something hard that'll fit in a jacket pocket), e.g. Altoids, will work for customs. This goes for the Ultimate Ears Zippo style case too - does anyone use it for customs? It looks too...- Aeneas

Paint advice needed (metal)
I don't really know anyone I can ask about this type of thing. Basically, I want to paint a pair of glasses (spectacles) because some it has come off. They're nice, light and rimless (the lenses need to be changed anyway) and they're just gathering dust (old prescription). The important thing...- Aeneas

Loose Socket on Custom IEMs
First off, sorry if there's already a thread on this, I did a search and waded through a few, but only found a couple for universals. Basically, the socket on one of my custom IEMs is loose, as in it's become too loose for the cable. I tried a new cable (same make/model) and it's just as...- Aeneas

I bought some JBL Creature II (2.1) speakers (pretty cheap, used) for my for dorm room but one of the speakers is very quiet compared to the other one. It's definitely the speaker, as I've tried multiple sources, used mono output, changed balance levels etc. It might be because of a...- Aeneas

Suggest Laptop/Workstation Setup for Low Budget ($100) for Use With Custom IEM - Sep 2010
I just bought my first laptop and will be going to university very soon. I have also seen new products released in the...- Aeneas

Looking For An Easy To Use/Fix 3.5mm (mini) Plug - Suggestions?
I have recabled my D1001, almost. I have/had a Canare F12 but it was too difficult to fix without the guide holes other jacks have. I've given up after trying quite a lot (I stopped because I had to - I had tightened the clamp too juch and couldn't pry it open. I am inexperienced and have...- Aeneas

I'm doing my first DIY project - recabling my D1001 and I've done everything except fix the Canare F12 plug. I have two issues: 1. I have 4 coloured wires and + copper sleeving - which go where (polarity list below)? 2. Canare F12 seems different to other plugs I've...- Aeneas

Audio-Technica CK10 Vs. Ortofon eQ-7 (semi-URGENT)
I have an eQ-7 that I like in terms of SQ but not really in terms of fit. Don't get me wrong, I can get a good seal with hybrids and it's not like they fall off, but I just prefer a behind ear/behind head fit (like stage customs) - like with Westone IEMs. I've read about both separately...- Aeneas

M3 - Is it for me?
I currently have Denon D1001, Ortofon eQ-7 and will have a custom TF10 soon. I will hopefully upgrade the full-sized cans in the coming months - closed-back is too warm (literally, my ears get hot). My question is whether an AMB M3 (will buy) is overkill. The only other...- Aeneas
