Congrats on getting the DMP. Do make sure th Unplugging it and replugging could affect the battery cycle. Yes, I would check how long the DMP can run on battery on either DSD, hirez FLAC, or regular redbook. This will give u an idea on battery health of the unit.

Make sure you run the battery test on it. Those store display units are notorious for having hours putting on them and likely stay connected to the wall outlet or been plugging and unplugging many many times lessening the battery life and cycle.

Best to use it via coaxial input. The USB input is maxed out at 16/48 if not mistake but coaxial goes up to 24/192.

You just need a place to meet up and people will come.

Changing battery isn’t too difficult to do and only take about an hour to do max. I have a copy of a service manual that I was able to find online. My PHA3 playing DSD files last about 5 hours driving my HD800 in balanced.

For a used price of around $350ish, it is still a very good portable DAC/Amp. Make sure you buy one with good condition with less hours on it though because you may have to replace the onboard battery soon. I just replaced the battery recently myself and I don’t think I have charged it more...

I think it isnt last word on the layering and soundstage but likely the leader for DAP under $1000. I own several modified DAPs and they are all more resolving than the DX260. Stock ZX707 won’t be able to match the DX260 for sure. I think the DX320 with amp 11 still throw bigger sound stage...

Recabling isn’t recommended as you can easily destroyed the driver in the process. This may happens during the driver removable process. The back of the driver of every R10 is glued to the ear cup and removing it could rip the voice coil causing the damage to the diaphragm. I have done that...
