Reflecting on back to back Ali E & the upcoming Linsoul sales...(consequently PTT on a $100 LEC code) - it's definitely a case of: "(LE)Crossing the Rubicon." Which totally encapsulates the addicting effect this hobby has had on me, since Spring !! The phrase "crossing the Rubicon" is an idiom...- activatorfly

Really digging ST7 now bigtime - their OOTH "magic sauce" has revealed itself far more now - after an all day listen. They're kind of like a HybriD of Hydro & Delci....take away the unwanted protrusion aggravation and they sound like a beast !! :beerchug:- activatorfly

Decided not to follow advice + used a craft file on my ST7 resin shell "protrusions." Imho to get deeper insertion - these should've been flat in the first place! Fit now is perfectamundo - no pain, no high "gain"....pillow listening should be cool af. Tragus problemo is sorted &...- activatorfly

Yes I agree totally - I can't budge(t) them now, pre-burn in they didn't impress much (- in the glaze of Orca)....but today they shine bigtime !!- activatorfly

One thing to note about ST7...as glorious as they sound - yesterday I noticed they caused slight ear fatigue in comparison to Orca (today worked out what it is.) I love the design of the underside of the shell - & thought they'd be perfectly ergonomic? Alas that resin protrusion (shown in the...- activatorfly

Trio would certainly win that battle fo sho - I'm still yet to add them, ST7 will suffice for now (as they trump both Orca & Libra.)- activatorfly

ST7 post burn-in.....what transformation! a far better set than my first impressions: with much more sub-bass presence, and far less peaky...it's a blinder(s) !!- activatorfly

Listening to Libra now - I really dig it, has lots of sparkle & shimmer & quite a balanced sig. They disappear in-ear cos they're so snug & it's definitely worth seeking out quality cables - makes a vast difference imo.- activatorfly

It's weird cos when I listen via laptop (SE) Orca sound better & a tad more "live." When I A/B them both via Sony DAP - the ST7 wins out & seem less "safe" so they're def source dependent. Fortunately currently these are my two main sources as I don't want to add a powered DAP into the set up. I...- activatorfly

Cool they should be fine, I'll try them both out with Hiby R6 Pro tomorrow - ST7 are definitely starting to improve now, bass presence is elevated, once it's smoothed out any peaks will be fine. The shells feel more premium, in that when you look closely at Orca's faceplate it's a much cheaper...- activatorfly

I concur about SM4 being the next logical step, Orca for me has a better sig, plus it conveys the sense of things being "live" rather than via studio monitors (akin to Hydro.) This vibe is very subjective obviously but when I A/B it vs the ST7 it's just like flicking on a switch..(in my case...- activatorfly

A comparison to ST7 is really FreeWheelin's field of expertise tbh....my take is that they're tuned very differently indeed. Noticeably bass & sub-bass quantity is lacking in ST7 (& apparently the ST5 also. I agree about the aesthetics the white finish is cool af...and you presume that the way...- activatorfly

One more thing - I really dig the build of both these TRN sets - & they're light years away from the SQ of the bizarrely tuned VX back in the day....The shape of ST7's shells is really novel - just like Orca they feel great in the hand & are very ergonomic in-ear (win-win!) Alas I've not been...- activatorfly

Before my quintet package delivery at lunchtime, I fabricated a new iem box - for compartments cutting up the cover of a hardback artbook. I couldn't agree more - rather than audiophile jargon, I personally prefer adjectives like "emotional-response" / "engagement" / "musicality" etc. When I used to review sets, I would emphasise whether a set conveys a "live" gig feel etc: i.e those special factors that really add to its "magic...- activatorfly
