That's the most frustrating thing about the FR cult-- they simply deny or downplay whatever they can't account for with their measurements. It's a little ironic that a movement which purports to be "science based" is so fundamentally rooted in and beholden to dogma.- Rockwell75

I have owned the IER Z1R on two occasions in my life and on a third occasion spent a couple weeks with @emdeevee's unit. I have experienced it on multiple difference sources. Personally I think it's very library and source specific-- on many occasions it fell flat for me, while other times it...- Rockwell75

People have complained about strident treble on the IER Z1R since time immemorial. It could possibly be a library or source mismatch. I've never had a lot of time with the P6 Pro but using the LP6 as a reference I found the WM1Z to be sonically superior with the Trifecta, Fei Wan and Perpetua...- Rockwell75

+1 for Mentor’s class leading holographic stage. I’m not a fan of the IEM overall but that stage is epic.- Rockwell75

I mean just that nobody has a monopoly on the truth. Enjoying audio is a lot like enjoying food-- some folks do it for purely utilitarian reasons, others purely for passionate reasons-- and everything in between. Also, what is spicy or sweet for one person may not be so for another. Everyone...- Rockwell75

I had no issues with fit or seal with Annihilator-- my default Sedna Crystals worked just fine. The term "weak" is something of a misnomer-- I did not mean it was lacking in quantity. For me, the issue was the quality (on both the 2021 version I owned, and on the 2023 demo I spent a couple...- Rockwell75

Well for one thing those are just two dimensions and the perception of a few. There is very seldom a final word on something or one single way to hear it. What may be weak and thin for some may be totally fine for someone else. That said Anni's selling feature is its treble response-- it's...- Rockwell75

I understand the weak bass and thinnish mids complaints with Anni. Better bass and more soul in the mids combined with that treble would be a stunning package indeed. But I guess you can't have it all. Fei Wan, I found, is also quite source picky. If you have a source that skewed ever so...- Rockwell75

Tuning is identical, only the colors differ. SoCal isn't that far away (unless you're in Northern Alberta) and there is a CanJam in Sept. Well worth the cost and you can demo everything your heart desires. And connecting with other folks is even better than that.- Rockwell75

I think they're priced just right relative to the market, for how unique they are, and for what they do. CFA if nothing else has always given a lot of bang for the buck with their IEMs and I think that's especially true here. For me their synergy with the WM1Z is what is priceless-- that combo...- Rockwell75

Glad to see the VX still getting some love. I owned one for a while back in 2019 an it remains one of my favorite all BA sets. On the topic of politics. The political spectrum has always seemed somewhat circular to me-- with extremes of both left and right finding more common ground than...- Rockwell75

Indeed, not to mention that Trifecta is class leading in many qualities, namely instrumental timbre, bass, separation, staging, musicality...nothing "odd" about any of those things. There has seemingly always been two camps of people in audio-- those after accuracy and realism, and those after...- Rockwell75

How? If IEMs have very demanding power requirements or only sound good on certain sources then that’s where the inadequacy lies…not the daps. IMHO- Rockwell75
