Please school this AliExpress newb (only started ordering from them last year): What's the LEC code? Thanks.

When you can get ample volume without clipping, with the clarity and dynamics you expect based on specs and reviews. Not trying to be a smartass -- it really is that simple for me. And my humble, 1-watt at 32 ohm JDS Labs Atom+ stack has powered everything I've thrown at it with aplomb the last...

I find the ST7 a smidge shouty in vocals, probably at the midrange peak you can see in graphs. To be fair, I'm VERY sensitive to upper-midrange shout with vocals. But the ST7's shout is quieting due to my tip rolling, brain burn and perhaps driver burn-in. Really enjoying the ST7 the more I...

Wow. Very clear difference in width, which is refreshing. Sometimes I feel like I need a micrometer to discern which tips are wide and narrow from certain manufacturers.

I owned the Trio and am just starting my journey with the ST7, and while they're comparable in price, I don't think they're that comparable in sound. The Trio is more of your classic mild V-shaped sound, malleable by tuning switches. The frequency curve doesn't look that much different than...

Same thing happening for me with more use. And that soundstage ... holy mother of expansive audio. Really impressive for an IEM, let alone a $23 unit. That soundstage will be REALLY fun while listening when f*cked up at night. Might freak me out, which I look forward to with great vigor. :)

Eager for your feedback, man. I'm also eyeing these two as a possible purchase. Thanks.

For me, the Delci remains the benchmark at $60 or less for a single-DD IEM.

You know some clown is going to buy this to power headphones because he insists his cans "need this much juice to really sing." LO-f*cking-L.

    Hifiman HE400se

Something is fishy. The Magni has more than enough juice to power the HE-400se. I used a JDS Labs Atom+ stack with single-ended and the original iFi hip-dac with balanced with my HE-400se, and both powered it with ease and aplomb despite having less power than the Magni Heretic.

We all have massive music collections now with streaming, but I did top out at 12,000 MP3s "borrowed" from the interwebs before I switched to streaming. :)

I think the same is happening to me. She's not the belle of the ball, but that stage! It's nuts for a budget IEM. Bon Scott might have sang about the ST7's stage, "The girls got rhythm ... the girls got rhythm ... she got the backseat rhythm ... the girls got rhythm." :)

Only two sources here -- an Apple dongle connected to my phone and a JDS Labs Atom+ stack. I always go with the Atom stack so there are never any questions about enough power. Plus, it's such a damn clean amp that I never get any hiss or hum with IEMs.

Man, tip rolling and brain burn are two vital elements of this insane IEM hobby. I didn't care for the ST7 that much in my first 30 minutes with it. Then I switched from the stock tips to Penon Liqueur orange tips and just listened to Steely Dan for about two or three hours tonight while...

While the ST7 is only so-so for hard rock like Bon-era AC/DC, it's really, really nice for Steely Dan due to the wide stage and less aggressive compositions and vocals. Piano timbre sounds "right," even if not as clear as a mountain blue sky. Again, I need to remind myself this set was 21 bucks...

The mid-bass of the ST7 with Penon Liqueur oranges has pretty good punch. I dig that. While I'm not bowled over yet by the ST7, it still is pretty mind-boggling that I paid $21 for an IEM that sounds better than the Moondrop Starfield for which I paid $105 just four years ago. It's also pretty...

Oddly, I'm not getting much richness to the ST7, especially compared to the Delci, which is the warm, double fudge brownie of sub-$75 IEMs. Details, staging, indeed. Impressive at this price point. Mid-bass present but not really warm. It's more punch than slam for me, which I don't mind at all...

Quick update: Penon Liqueur orange tips help the ST7 A LOT for me. Adds a bit more sub-bass while taming the shout of the vocals and reducing the perception of BA timbre from the treble. Still not as good as the Trio or the Delci upon early listen, but better than with stock tips. This IEM...

Got the TRN ST7 today. VERY EARLY initial impressions: Meh. Glad I only paid $21 for it at AliExpress. As others have said, this is not a sub-bass or basshead set. It does have average mid-bass, which I like. But there is no grunt or rumble with this set like the Delci, a set tuned for...

Those are the two ailments that plague most online reviewers. One, they fill their reviews with bullsh*t audiophile jargon because they think it increases their credibility and authority. As Steve Bannon said in 2016, "flood the zone with (crap)." Two, reviewers are anodyne with their opinions...

...headphone. Driver types. Impedance. Sensitivity. Etc. But our perception of that sound is 1 MILLION percent subjective, regardless of what some f*cking frequency curve shows us. How often have you purchased an IEM or headphone that has a very similar frequency curve to another unit you've...

Agreed. But I also come to the IEM world from a long time in the over-ear world, where you have one driver in each earcup. So, my biases and hardwired preferences are clear for all to see. :)
