SR60-Mod part II
Big Bill, thanks for doing that. I'm hoping this will be a leaner-cleaner, non-commercial board. You captured those golden oldies and I really appreciate that. My motto has always been, "If I can do it, you can do it better." Some folks have really raised the bar on that, which...- Bilavideo

Bilavideo Cups Pending List
Not true, Wayne. While coming back after three weeks is very much like taking a drink with a firehose, I never considered you anything but a friend. It has been a busy day back, and I'm still working my way through the backlog, but you are on my list and not necessarily near the...- Bilavideo

Bilavideo Cups Pending List
Hey guys, I'm back. This is my first day off the meds. I've been bombed out of my mind since screwing up my back. I posted more about it on the SR60 Mod forum. Bottom line. I'm back to work on this and am going through about 33 messages left on my message box. Sorry for the gap. I will be...- Bilavideo

Hey, everybody, I'm back. I've been away for something like three weeks. I did not run off to Mexico or anything. I've just been stoned out of my mind. The last day of the last week of school, I got stuck moving some computers across campus. Because we're in portables, I had to walk these...- Bilavideo

The rod blocks are attached to the metal strip of the headband by an adhesive, such as Super Glue. The bonds of this adhesive crack easily if you will simply work the band, back and forth. To reattach, just drip a drop of a similar adhesive into the slit in the blocks and then work the rod...- Bilavideo

It's three. The first two had faulty motors. The third was significantly better but it used plastic on one of the parts, a part needed to properly tighten the fit between the headstock and tailstock to avoid wobbling. The third one worked much better than the first...- Bilavideo

Yeah, I just needed to go hog wild and make as many of these as I could, in as many woods as I could. It's like wanting to do this thing and having a mountain of bureaucratic junk in your way - and then you've got that opening and you just want to let your horses run wild.- Bilavideo

GETTING OFF THE GROUND I've been burning to get past the false starts and stops and really cut some wood. This is the last week of school (crazy week) but I spent the weekend cutting a bunch of "hockey pucks" to create blocks to lathe. I used a 3" hole saw to get the...- Bilavideo

I KILLED ANOTHER LATHE I was in the middle of Shell Fest 2011 when the lathe flatlined on me. I'm not sure what happened, just what didn't. Please light a candle and say a prayer for my lathe as its soul departs this world. I'm sure Lathe #2 has gone to Heaven, if only because of...- Bilavideo

Why is the HD650 'boring'?
The HD650, like the HD600, is an excellent headphone, though not the one I ended up with. I owned the HD650 for a time and found it extremely smooth. The treble is filtered and the overall sound is very nonfatiguing. Were they boring? Yes, when compared to my Grados. Grados don't filter the...- Bilavideo

Temporarily closing open cans
If you want to close it up so you can't hear anything around you, your best bet is professional sound foam, highly absorbent material. It will block transient noises while leaving the smallest footprint on the presentation.- Bilavideo

If you have a drill press, set the depth stop in advance so that you won't be able to go too far with the feed. It takes a little extra time but it's worth doing.- Bilavideo

Temporarily closing open cans
You may be surprised to discover that the transient sound you're trying to block out comes as much from the sides - because of the transparency of the cushions - as from the back.- Bilavideo

How much more bass does HD650 have than HD600?
I agree that it's an issue of perception. This is Sennheiser bass, which is 6 dB above flat at its most pronounced frequency point (100 Hz), which is low enough for kick drums and basses, though not quite grumble. It's midbass but not high bass. Though you'll hear of people who brag...- Bilavideo

Two holes is understated, a minimalist mod that some people like. Four holes is the most popular configuration. I vent all the holes. On one project, I vented more than the ten that were there. I started punching in holes. There must have been 20 by the time I was done. I'm not so...- Bilavideo
