Who bought these?
Well, I can tell you with 100% certainty that they will be used every day. I should know, I bought them. Was $2550 too much to pay? Certainly, yes; but that's not the point. When I was 16 years old, I bought a pair of HP-1s with the reference cable from Vka. I met him in a subway...- Voyager

Alessandro MS Pro: Bass Distortion Problem?
If it's a battery powered amplifier, the battery could be weak. You could check by trying another pair of headphones or a new battery.- Voyager

HP-1000 Driver Durability/Tolerance
I can say for sure that the Grado HP-1000 series diaphragms are not paper. I have seen them, and they are a polymer. As far as durability goes, you can easily play them at levels that will liquify your eardrums and they will not mind.- Voyager

Random Musings On a Trip Down Memory Lane:
Originally, I intended to have this be an introduction to how I felt about the Etymotic ER-4P, but it didn’t work out that way. I started writing and it just came out. I’m going to make a separate post for the Etys. Before I begin, let me tell you a little but about where I...- Voyager

PS1000s shipping
Hey Vka! The HP-1s I bought form you back around 2000 made me so happy! I never needed or wanted another headphone, and then I did something stupid and sold them so I could buy a another car last summer. It's kind of funny because I bought them instead of a car, when I was only 16. I only...- Voyager

Rega ear or Music fidelity x-cans for grado 325i
I own a Rega Ear; it wouldn't be my first choice to pair with SR-325is. It's a perfectly fine amp for the price, but it sounds a bit lean. That, coupled with the already bright Grados, proved to be too fatiguing for my tastes. The Rega is a much better match for the Sennheiser HD-580s and...- Voyager

Boston/N.E. Fall Meet Impressions
What a great meet this was! Lots of stuff to listen to, lots of people to listen to, and just a lot of fun! I finally got a chance to listen to the PS-1s. Those headphones have some serious bass. Sometimes a little too much. AKG K1000s were nice through the modified MG Head OTL 32; I wish I got...- Voyager

Boston Fall Meet - Sunday November 6th
I just started getting back into listening now that I have more free time, and have started going back to Head-Fi after a number of years. I, being a (very) poor college student don't have a car at the moment, but would love to attend the meet. I can probably find a car to use, but if I can't, I...- Voyager

What were the greatest speakers you've ever heard?
the best i heard were the B&W 801's. They sounded very large and realistic. the imaging was truly awesome, and the bass was sooooo deep without being ovedone. I can never look at most speakers the same way again after hearing them, although the upper-end rockport speakers Antares and Hyperion...- Voyager

Cool-looking new SACD player
I think the 2 other boxes are matching amplifiers. I recently auditioned the T-100, and those boxes weren't present. The CD player also has an integrated amplifier in it eliminating the need for a preamp. You also have the option of a solid state output, or a tube output. (I prefered the sound...- Voyager

Source Priority
I love my Maxed out home. Sure, it isn't the newest model, but it's still a great amp. In my opinion, the sonic difference isn't that big between the 2001 series and the old ones. It has no trouble driving anything I throw at it, Senn HD580s/HD600s, Grado Sr-60s, and my HP-1s. If your looking at...- Voyager

Source Priority
in my experience, I find that the headphones are the most important part of the audio chain. No matter how good an amp or source is, it isn't going to change a pair of cheapo headphones into an Orpheus. Next to the headphones, I find that the amp makes a big difference. I would go for a good...- Voyager
