Harx-700 or Harx-900, that is the question.
I know I re-cabled both, but I seem to recall the 700 was more musical, more fun to listen but the 900 was a bit more refined. I would definitely try the 900 if I were in your position. Cheers! Doug- ecclesand

1000 things you've learned from Head-Fi
Nothing lately. The audio equipment that I have found I enjoy, I discovered through experimentation....certainly not based on reviews and advice from the vast majority of folks here. There are still a few good ones around but for the most part, this forum is made up of shills, trolls, and...- ecclesand

Audioengine 2, not what I expected.
I had the A2s for a while and thought they were pretty decent until I heard a pair of budget passive speakers with a budget receiver...no contest...the A2s sounded like crap. I tried positioning them all over my desk; bought Auralex foam to isolate them from my desk and even built stands for...- ecclesand

Where are you all buying your S08 to DIP8 adapters? I had a source on Ebay but he hasn't had them in a while. I have bought from Cimarron but they're expensive and I've had some bad luck recently with a couple of their dual S08 to DIP8 adapters.- ecclesand

V-MODA Crossfade M-80 Reviews
I think I'll wait for a while before buying these headphones to see how they hold up physically. I got burned years ago by VModa on the Vibes and still have a bad taste in my mouth.- ecclesand

Drilling out through holes on PCB
I would follow UE's advice. I tried this when I was modding a Lite Dac-Ah (to fit the huge leads on the Audience Caps) and had a hell of a time repairing the board and getting everything to work.- ecclesand

$100 Passive Bookshelf Speakers Pair
I went thru the Audioengine A2s and M-Audio AV40s before finally being satisfied with a separate amp and passive speakers. I found a used NAD 40 watt receiver ($100) and a pair of Energy C100 speakers ($95) on Ebay and that was my first passive setup. Since then, I have tried Advent, Polk...- ecclesand

Most of the shipping companies suck. It's not a matter of IF you will have a problem, but WHEN. I've been lucky with UPS and unlucky with FEDEX and USPS and absolutely hosed by DHL.- ecclesand
