What's the best USB audio cable for the money?
Hmm, Supra wasn't that warm in my rig. Yeah, it's on the warmer side of neutral but for example the Ricable Magnus is clearly more smooth/warm/fuzzy sounding. Magnus is definitely an easy listen but masks too much information on the process. Supra has done quite well in many comparisons and...- Patu

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?
I own Supra 2.0 also. For the price, it's a great cable and I used it for a while in my main rig. Atlas USB is better though and around the same price range. I've been close to order Neotech few times but after acquiring a used Intona Premium, I didn't feel the need anymore to try that one...- Patu

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?
I tested Ricable Magnus USB a while back. It was everything but neutral. Very warm and bassy sound signature. First I was impressed since the bass was so forward but in the long run, this cable masked some detail and sounded too muffled. But yeah, the comparison to Intona Premium wasn't fair...- Patu

HQPlayer Impressions and Settings Rolling Thread
No, DAC correction works separately. My DAC supports it and I have DSP pipelines at 2 with convolution filters set for both channels and I can run DAC correction at the same time. Btw. I ended up having few dropouts with Blocks per cycle at 2. Then I tried 6 and also occasional dropouts. So...- Patu

If you have performance troubles with HQP, try to fiddle with Blocks per cycle setting under Advanced. Jussi mentioned this setting on another forum and I then tried different settings, instead of default. On my server (i5-12500 + 16gb DDR5 4800mhz) lower value settings give clearly better...- Patu

Works fine here. I tested with 24/192 and 24/176.4 material and oversampling to DSD512.- Patu

Yes, you can run Roon server on Windows also. Nucleus is just the easiest and "hassle free" way to run Roon server. It's also a lot cheaper option to just buy an NUC (or any other mini or regular size PC) with Windows and install Roon server and HQP server on that same machine. I use Lenovo...- Patu

You still have a PC in your equipment chain in form of Nucleus. I run Roon server in Windows, which makes it possible to run HQPlayer (and Plex server) on the same machine.- Patu

This works for PCM but if you want to oversample to DSD, you need a beefier machine to run HQP server.- Patu

Holo Audio Red Streamer
I had no problems with RoPieeXL on my Red, worked just as Red OS. If you use HQPlayer, I recommend using the dedicated NAA image. It had slightly better sound quality than Red OS or RoPieeXL. Between RoPieeXL and Red OS, I couldn't hear any difference.- Patu

What's the best USB audio cable for the money?
I use Intona Professional Premium USB-cable between a Holo Red and T+A DAC200 (previously Holo Spring 3) and have been very happy with it. I tested around 6-8 different cables few years ago and Intona was clearly the best one. There’s just something very correct in its tonality, clarity and timing.- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
Works great with easier to drive headphones. Only faulty thing here is your assumption that all amps are equal if power rating is high enough.- Patu

K7 should also get everything out of them, based on power specs. But it doesn’t, not even close. So I guess we also need to take into account some other things than power output.- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
So you suggest that $119 Magni is an endgame amp and no other headphone amplifier on market can offer anything above that? Even with one of the most difficult to drive headphones, like E3? Everything just sounds identical, even tubes vs solid state? What a wild statement.- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I have two amps at home. The other one makes the E3 sing and another one less so. With V222, the bass hits fast and deep, sound is dynamic and punchy. The headphones sound airy with big soundstage and with great resolution and detail and slight touch of warmth. I really do like E3 with this...- Patu

Based on that site, even FiiO K5 Pro (1,5W @32ohm) in high-gain mode should have no problem with E3. I own FiiO K7 (2W @32ohm), but it's not listed on that site. K7 does drive E3 but it sounds nowhere near as powerful, effortless and good as with Violectric V222.- Patu

Dan Clark Audio E3 Review: Interview, Measurements, Impressions
I own E3 and while auditioning it at the retailer, I quickly tested Arya Organic for about three tracks, so a very short audition. The reason for it being that short was that Arya Organic didn't impress me at all. Maybe it was because of listening the E3 first and after that the AO's sounded...- Patu

Yeah DSD512 + correction could be the sweet spot but needs more powerful server than what I have. I’m sorry, I can’t help you more than this. Maybe contact Jussi Laako directly, I’m sure he knows how to make it work.- Patu

I have HQP running on a server in a different room. I stream over LAN to Holo Red and the Red is connected to the T+A DAC200 through USB. So it doesn’t need to be connected directly, it’s enough that the NAA is connected to the DAC.- Patu

After using poly-sinc-gauss-long - ASDM7EC-light - DSD512x48 for some time, I decided to give the DAC correction a try again. I can't run it with DSD512 since my server doesn't have enough power for that, so the combo is poly-sinc-gauss-long - ASDM7EC-super (or -light) - DSD256x48 - DAC...- Patu

Violectric V222 and V202
It’s great and drives E3 effortlessly. I’ve heard HPA4 only as preamp in my speaker setup and I kind of understand what you talk about. It was extremely punchy and fast sounding pre but I felt it was slightly on the harsh side, lacking that little bit of euphoria and bloom which make listening...- Patu
