I’ve been wondering whatever happened to the new TOTL concept headphones from Final Audio that they demoed in Munich 2023, the X8000… surprise appearance soon? 🤔 https://snext-final.com/en/products/detail/X8000

Oh no… 🤦🏻😉 I actually think I about a pile of those for a few dollars on eBay a few years ago and forgot them (never tried). I guess I’ll have to dig in some box and dress up my tubes. Feels silly. But the integrity of science demands it… 🤪

I can comment about the theory, but not the actuality - the concept is that these rings would reduce vibration and therefore improve things. Edit: saw @chrisnyc75 replied same time, sorry. yes same theoretical answer..

There are a few portable amps with those tubes afaik. Wireless headphones obviously include small amps and dacs built into their earcup, hence the location of the tube. But it a rather unusual design choice (resistance to vibrations, heat..). Intriguing nonetheless! 🤷‍♂️

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

It's a strange concept however one looks at it (tube + wireless? tube inside cup?). a trend/adjective chasing project if I were cynical (which I'm not). I wasn't sure it was real either. Just stumbled on it by chance. Shared as curiosity... 🤷‍♂️

iFi Audio Pro iESL - The Official Thread

I love the iESL with the AIC10 especially for the HE60. The 540V option is a must here and makes all the difference. For the X9000 and 007mk1 I prefer the Mjolnir Carbon, but it’s more a synergy/presentation than quality. I’ll have to try the the Woo Wee at some point 🤷‍♂️

Excepting the Immanis, which I haven't had a chance to try with the AIC10 (though @timeslip may be able to offer insight on that one), the AIC10 answered that very question for me. And, with one small tube roll (G73R), it can lean toward and surpass other TOTL SS (far superior to the Zahl for...

thanks, super interesting! I myself prefer the Mullard M8136 / VC4003 (early 60s) to the G73R for exactly the same reasons you describe, and share your preferences, so the context is quite helpful - now I wonder how the Mullartd CV491 compares.. we'd love your longer term impression on the...

    CanJam SoCal 2024 (September 28-29, 2024)

Highly recommend you bring your own source. I recommend carrying the following USB cables from your source with both usb-c and usb-b terminations - for connecting to DACs Interconnects - 3.5/4.4 to dual RCA/XLR - for connecting your mobile source (DAP or mobile DAC off your phone) directly to...

THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.

Welcome! I have the AIC10 and Caldera and it’s an excellent combo. While the Caldera is easy to drive, it’s also easy to scale, and the AIC takes it to a whole other level. It’s a stupid good combination (to use a highly professional term;)). I can’t offer insight on the other combos, perhaps...

The HE1000SE really are great, and these days offer fantastic performance to price. The Dethonray Listening M1 isn’t something I see much. How do you like it? What’s its output impedance. and does it have a noise floor that is dark enough for super sensitive IEMs as well?
