THE WATERCOOLER HEADPHONE EDITION – Headphones, Amps, DACs, and desktop/home audio related – a freewheeling discussion of gear, impressions, music, and musings.
Absolutly but I’d caveat. 1) you got to be impressed with the bare bones wa33 cause the tube upgrade as I stated does exactly that. And will cost as much if not more than the amps I was looking at as an alternative. For myself it was a no brainer to go there….now I’m wooed for life- Whazzzup

Well with wa 33 if you can’t stand the heat, you got to get out of the kitchen. I find the heat neglageable in effect although I do realize, man we are in the pocket when the desk furnace starts emitting. Well other than wa33 elite effectively blew me away, I was looking at all these culprits...- Whazzzup

Ok bigbeans let me get this straight. You got wa33 and why would you look for another amp, your at the summit with this amp. Well Takatsuki 274b, Takatsuki 2a3 and we 5842 and that’s a substantive upgrade in itself. Why in heavens would one entertain another amp, no matter how cheap? I can...- Whazzzup

its what I did in 2015, what it does is c--k block any headphone. oh you keep looking cause you know its not perfect, it can't be. so you throw buckets of doe at it in servers and amps, and it keeps scaling. so eventually you throw your hands up and surrender. :stuck_out_tongue_closed_eyes:- Whazzzup

What I found fantastic on wa33 elite was impedance toggle as well as gain. So on hd800S as an example it’s a high impedance hp, but low gain has plenty of power. One can really tailor the stage, bring it forward or move it back, and keep it dead quiet background.- Whazzzup

I tried kr 2a3 power tubes. They were noisy, microphonic, granted over many hours quieted down some, sounded pretty good. Takatsuki 274b was clearly quiet, and tightened the stage up but with good imagery. The ta 2a3 tho, another level of clarity, power, and dead quiet.- Whazzzup
