Klipsch S4i Rugged

General Information

The Image S4i Rugged Headphones utilize tough rubber moldings and an all-weather design to protect the legendary Klipsch sound from Mother Nature's bad side. Neither rain, sleet, snow, nor concrete jungle can stop the award winning acoustics and live music experience of the Image S4i Rugged headphones. An extra-large, 3-button remote lets you precisely control iPhone calls and music whether you're wearing bulky gloves or are simply on the go. And while the headphones' exterior is built tough, these in-ear headphones have patented oval ear tips to keep you comfortable.

When it comes to comfort, no one beats Klipsch headphones. Unlike circular-shaped ear tips that put stress on the pressure points inside the ear, Klipsch's exclusive oval ear tips naturally fit the contours of your ear canals, providing comfortable long-term wear. These lightweight ear tips also offer superior noise isolation, blocking out almost all ambient noise and provide excellent bass. Because we want you to be rocking out to your favorite tunes for a long, long time, the seal also allows you to enjoy your music at lower, safer volumes.

In addition to unequaled comfort, these exclusive ear tips create a perfect acoustic seal to produce Klipsch's renowned, high-performance sound. At the heart of every Klipsch product is over 66 years of audio expertise beating strong. Our commitment to no-compromise performance has made us the preferred choice of top cinema operators, a leader in stereo and home theater sound and a premium name in headphones. The Image S4i Rugged's audio works with virtually any device that has a standard 3.5mm headphone jack; however, the mic and three-button remote support select Apple products. Unlike other headsets, the S4i Rugged positions its mic and remote at the cable yoke to create a more natural feel when answering calls and controlling music. The highly intelligible, directional mic means you'll be heard crystal clear and won't have to worry about the external noise around you.

New Head-Fier
Pros: Great cable, "Rugged" lives up to its name, little distortion, good accessories
Cons: Cable sound, low bass, odd mic design, expensive
Firstly, this is my first review on this site so this may not be to the accurate Head-Fi standards. Out of the box, it took me a while to find the perfect fitting an i opted for the large and long ear tips. My first impression were poor, there was virtually no bass and my old pair of EarPods could have sounded better, but i noticed it had low distortion compared to the EarPods. After about 4 hours of burn-in the bass was present, and quite detailed but just lacking the volume. If the artist wanted bass in the song, the S4i Rugged would perform, but in other songs, the bass was not as dominant as other in-ears i have tried. The mids and highs were quite pleasant, vocals sounded nice and at a price of £40 (half-price on amazon) it was a good bargain. But at the full £90 price tag, it is not worth it. Another thing, i usually like to have my in-ear cables underneath my hoodie when i run and the mic design made it impossible to pick up the phone or even change volume and the cable sound was unbearable if i didn't have it underneath my hoodie. But all in all, these are quite pleasing but if you like bass, steer away from these earphones

try wearing them over the ear (maybe your like me, i had trouble getting them to seal, try using one size smaller looping them over the ear helps! the earphone doesn't hit your earlobe or that gap in between--> you'll get the bass! the s4is are really bassy) surprised you thought they lacked volume, they are really sensitive and have really low impedence as well. on my iphone i played it at 3 clicks from 0. i was able to block out subways chatter and the wheels screeching.
