@Elwood86 great to hear your experience. i'm still looking for a new set of speakers, this certainly helps. by the way I heard a rumor the production of the Retro50 will stop soon, and a new model, without EL84s, will be introduced.

Thanks for taking the time and checking out the video. Nice to hear your settings of Xbass and 3D. Will give your tone control setting a try. /Paul

For those interested I posted a video on YouTube giving an overview of the functions and capabilities of iFi Retro. I share my experiences over the last one an a half year. Compared to other reviews focus is a little more on vinyl playback. The unit is also opened up to have a look inside and...

Concerning tube life, this is what iFi wrote about it before. /Paul

Now this is certainly nice! Just got it up and running. Of course used the optical connection (had to give up the optical to the CD-player). The possibilities are almost endless now. The Stereo50 has become a little music monster. Is there anything it can't do?!?

Welcome, Tom...till now no upgrades for me, very happy with the sound. I did connect an iPurifier to the USB input. /Paul

That is fun to read. I also switched from bluetooth to a USB connection with my iPad. And connected the iPurifier to the Stereo50. Still using the USB cable as delivered with the unit. Curious for the improvements you get when switching to the iPurifier2. /Paul

Still have this little magic bamboo box! Although no longer my original one, it got replaced because of tube flash. Connected are Totem Mite speakers, which were the speakers I had in my previous set. The combo works well. Sounds great and have enough power, but don't go party loud. Have not...

Review by 'XjunkieNL' on item 'iFi Retro Stereo50'

Early 2015 I was looking on the iFi website for info on the iPhono. This is when I discovered the iFi Retro Stereo50. What is this? What do all these icons and logos mean? Is this really an all-in-one amplifier? How does it sound? I found limited info while googling for more information on this...

The difference between the different settings on Xbass should be clearly audible. As suggested by John open a ticket. The service, in my experience, is always quick and helpful. /Paul

Just a quick update. I tried the combined usb hub. It solved the problem. The message “Cannot Use Device: The connected USB device requires too much power.” is gone. Only thing is, it drains the battery of the Ipad quick when staying connected when everything is switched off. The orignal...

The static noise I haven't experienced. The popping noise probably comes from a faulty tube. I have had some. It seems they are easily damaged in transport. Sometimes you can see a blue spark in the faulty tube at the moment of the popping noise. In my Retro the faulty tube was replaced by a...
