    HP-2

Hello, I haven't been here for a while, but have great news as at 70, I finally made retirement! Now thinking about travel - going mobile. So I have a pair of Joseph Grado signature HP-2 headphones with 325 headband mod, Antique Sound Lab MG Head DT amplifier, and Kimber Hero 1.0m w/WBT gold...

    as comfortable as Sennheiser HD414?

Love my own pair of Senn HD 414 anniv headphones. May I suggest a pair of the light weight plastic Grados (SR 60 or 80) with a set of 414 ear cushions and spring the headband a little for best fit.

    Best grados under 300$

IMHO go for the Grado 225i and stay away from the SR325is!

I have also read that the HP3 headphones did not have the Joseph Grado Signature Ultra-wide Bandwidth Reference cable.

    HP-2 vs. HD-650 & SR-325

Uncle Erik - You sir have a keen eye! These headphones are quite a bit more than HF-2s and have a great story - here are some more photos. I have owned these HP-2s for 15 years and due to comfort issues kept them in storage. I recently parted-out my vintage black SR-325s giving the metal cups to...

    HP-2 vs. HD-650 & SR-325

The Joseph Grado Signature HP-2 , the Grado Labs Prestige Series SR-325, and the Sennheiser HD-650 headphones. Much has been written about each of these products, so for those of you not familiar allow me to use a simple visual analogy to describe what many regard as the Grado Labs and...

What headphones will likely outperform a Sennheiser HD650 with Zu Mobius cable

ctm - Sorry, but I can't provide impressions regarding your referenced list of headphones as I have not had the opportunity to listen and compare. In looking at nikongod 's avatar I note that he is shown wearing a set of JG HP-1000 's so you might ask his impressions?

What headphones will likely outperform a Sennheiser HD650 with Zu Mobius cable

ctm - Thanks for your reply, I do of course have a set of Grado HP-2s as well as Sennheiser HD-650s and the Senns are not even in the same league in terms of SQ. However, in terms of user comfort the HD-650s are indeed a hard headphone to better. I am very impressed by your profile and because...

    Well...I thought I was a Grado man...

mralexosborn I'm in the SR-225 camp feeling they are the best Grado value right out of the box with the best balanced sound as opposed to say the SR-325 treble burners. However, there is a easy and cheap fix for a bright high end which is somewhat counter intuitive. Get yourself a set of current...

What headphones will likely outperform a Sennheiser HD650 with Zu Mobius cable

Find yourself a set of Joseph Grado Signature HP-1000 headphones (either the HP-1 or HP-2 versions) . Unfortunately, prices have been driven up by collectors, so you may have quite a search. There is an excellent review on Headphonereviews.org under the heading Grado HP1000 by Senior Member 003...

Grado SR225i versus SR325i - Am I just paying for the Metal???

I have a little different take on the 325 vs 225 situation. For 15 years I've owned and used the first generation (black) 325 and a set of later 225s. The 325 was not a well regarded headphone as it had a bass bump that tended to cause spikes in the mid/ lower treble range giving it a harshness...

The HD650 as maybe you haven't heard it yet.

Thank you for your Cambridge Audio 340 SE insights, sounds like a good amp! Your point regarding computer based sonic correction is also well taken. I use my HD 650s as computer monitors running off of a Logitech 2.1 game system output (about 15 watts and is actually clean) connected to a HTPC...
