Meier Cantate or PreSonus Central Station?

Darn maybe I should start another post on the merits of crossfeed (which I reckon probably exist anyway) haha! Hmm after reading Skylab's review on the Meier range of amps, I'm really tempted to go for the Opera. But the price is quite prohibitive. And ultimately my source isn't that...

Meier Cantate or PreSonus Central Station?

I can't quite make up my mind (as is the case with most of my head-fi purchases) between either a Meier Audio Corda Cantate or the PreSonus Central Station for my Beyerdynamic DT 150. I will be running the setup from my iMac G5, with the optical out for the PreSonus CS and USB for the...

How do you know which amp to pick for your cans?

I totally overlooked the fact that other elements of my system play a part in synergy as well. A bad case of myopia really. I see a possible challenge arising here though. My two sources aren't what you would call top notch quality. I listen almost exclusively to AAC tracks via iTunes at...

How do you know which amp to pick for your cans?

Wow guys, now this is why head-fi is such an excellent forum. Ask the right questions and you shall receive answers, which many a time are richlly insightful, detailed and somewhat humorous as well. in response to zanth's post - system synergy is a term that has always eluded me, not that...

How do you know which amp to pick for your cans?

thanks for the great response head-fi'ers! i guess picking an amp to match your cans, isn't a simple process. the problem with auditioning amps for me is that there aren't many meets here in singapore. so that option is ruled out. but i can always meet fellow singaporean head-fi'ers and audition...

How do you know which amp to pick for your cans?

As the title states, I'd like to find out how do you guys determine which amps to try out/demo/purchase for your cans? Do you match the sonic characteristics of your cans to that of the amps? Is it a complementary match - as in bright cans with dark amps for example - or something similar -...

    Amp for Beyerdynamic DT 150

I've heard that tube amps should enjoy great synergy with the DT 150. Anyone with inputs on this? I guess it makes sense 'cuz the DT 150 is a flat/neutral/balanced/accurate can (they were made to be monitors) hence a tube amp should complement the sound well adding a touch of warmth etc?

    Amp for Beyerdynamic DT 150

Anyone? I guess very people here have owned or listened to the DT 150 before. I've been thinking of getting a home amp as opposed to a portable. Maybe a Gilmore Lite?

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Wow I wasn't aware that the DT100 was available in so many different impedance ratings. Jaben had the DT100, but somehow - I guess 'cuz I've always heard about the elusive DT 150s - I just went for them instead.

    Amp for Beyerdynamic DT 150

Running the DT 150 out of a Visely HEA-1 Portable/Desktop Headphone amplifier at the moment. A good amp to get me started but I'd like to get a feel for what I should be aiming for in the very near future. What would you head-fi'ers recommend for the DT 150. It's rated at 250ohms FWIW. The...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

The one that I have is also rated at 250ohms. And yeah I reckon the DT 150 isn't as big as it should be on head-fi cuz its not as easily available. You guys should try pro music stores that sell studio equipment, or if you're in Singapore just drop by Jaben. It's a pity these aren't...

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

That's the German Tank alright! In all it's glory. I kinda dig the look. It doesn't try too hard with fancy bits of plastic and neon colors. It looks pretty bad-ass imho = )

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

By the way Jaben is an awesome store here in Singapore. If you ever vist this part of South-east Asia, do drop by the Adelphi shopping mall and head straight to Jaben. Uncle Wilson is a really affable chap who's more than willing to sort anyone out when it comes to head-fi.

    Beyerdynamic DT 150: Bloody Brilliant!

Haven't been around here for quite a while now, but I'm back with a vengeance - not too sure if that's more good than bad = ) Anyway, I was intent on getting a new pair of cans today. Headed down to Jaben here in Singapore to audition a few cans. Came across the Beyerdynamic DT 150, which...
