    I found the Audio Technica AD2000 and Senn800 noticeably edgy in on a lot of mp3. I prefer the 990 in this regard. I do think the amp have a lot of possibilities here.

    Thanks for your informative reply. I enjoy drums and ambiance and beautiful vocals when they are in the recordings I also like punch when it is there.  Which newest headphone/amp have you come across that is worth considering over msr7?
