    Sennheiser HD 215 Review

Well, you need to take into account the fact that I bought my HD215 almost 10 years ago. It was probably the best purchase I could have made. I did some research back then and there weren't many headphones around the same price with such accurate and neutral sound. Many people worshipped Porta...

    Sennheiser HD 215 Review

I have owned or still own PX100, HD518, IE4, HD490, HD380. Every single one of these has too much bass. Definitely not flat. Not sure what you mean by "Hi-fi" - 20Hz to 20kHz +-3 dB? I doubt any commercial headphone actually achieves that. :)   HD215 has the most accurate treble/mid balance of...

Sennheiser HD 558 vs PC 360 vs HD 598

I just bought a HD600 and the PC360 does not sound so balanced anymore. HD600 is considerably brighter and I like that sound more. PC360 has a bloated sub 500Hz range in comparison. I also listen to the Samsung Galaxy S3 headset a lot and to me it sounds more natural and balanced than PC360.

Volume problem with Sennheiser PC360 headset, any help is greatly appreciated.

Did you mean the cushion on the earcup? Just grab it on one side and start pulling carefully, it should come off with a click. You don't need to remove the entire earcup from the headphone, the wire will prevent you from doing so anyway. After you un-screw and pull the loudspeaker piece out, the...

    Modding the Sennheiser HD518

Cotton does not stop bass (try stuffing it in your ears and listen). I'm no sound pro but a layer of cotton sounds like a low-pass filter to me. It lets bass escape out of the headphone and just mids and treble is affected (treble being affected the most).

    Sennheiser HD 215 Review

I wasn't criticizing Sennheiser as much as I was criticizing the poor taste of general population. I respect professional Sennheiser products but in the consumer business, I guess they have little choice. They must make their headphones intentionally bass-heavy, otherwise people brainwashed with...

    Sennheiser HD 215 Review

I'm sorry but I'm not touching any mainstream Sennheiser headphone again. Over-bassed stuff with recessed treble in general - this seems all that people want, this Porta Pro like sound, which I despise. Maybe HD 449 is different but I'm not wasting my money to find out.

Volume problem with Sennheiser PC360 headset, any help is greatly appreciated.

I have just fixed this problem on my brother's PC 360. (The volume control is actually detrimental to the product, it's not needed for anything and only serves as a source of trouble)   All I needed was a soldering iron and a small cross screwdriver (and some spare solder, I extracted some...

    Modding the Sennheiser HD518

Alternatively, it's possible to reduce the bloated bass and bring out the upper range on HD 518 by sticking some cotton behind the driver. The advantage compared to the OP's mod:   You can open the headphone only once, remove the back rim and grill, then put them back together. This leaves...

    HD518 Bass.

Quote:   In that case Sennheiser failed utterly. A good attempt at neutrality under $150 is Sony MDR 7506. HD 518 is over-bassed and lacks clarity (muddy).

    Sennheiser HD228 or HD238?

I have experimented with my HD 238 a lot during last few days and using some yellow foam and cotton, I was able to improve the SQ on HD 238 beyond what I ever thought possible. They have some phenomenal drivers, deliberately crippled by other design choices at Sennheiser. Now the headphone's SQ...

    Sennheiser HD380pro vs HD215II (?)

I happen to have HD 215 (the original, but they should be the same) and HD 380 so I can tell you some of my (subjective) findings (used Asus Xonar DX).   HD 215 is slightly under-bassed. A bit higher bass level and it would be perfect. HD 380 is considerably over-bassed (especially the...

    Sennheiser HD 215 Review

I bought HD 215 as one of my first headphones (hitting the bull's eye without even knowing it). But since I had nothing to compare them with and I thought I could do better, I subsequently bought some more headphones - HD 380, HD 518, HD 668B... only to find out that none of them was as...

Sennheiser HD238: Brief Review and Modding

I need to say thanks to the OP. My HD238 has been lying under the bed for almost a year because I could not bear the bloated bass (already did Astroid's mod shortly after purchase in a desperate attempt to save the sound/headphones, which did not help much). I had vacation so I thought I might...
