Q701 impressions thread
I missed this post somehow, it was impressive because I found them to be so bass light that I was surprised to hear some sub-bass and pretty deep extension too. I also haven't heard that many high end headphones, I'll admit. The D2000 had far more impressive bass overall out of the ones I have...- shorke

You could check out Razordog Deals, I went through ebay, but he also has a site, and got a nice price and he ships out same day. I'd try emailing him, or offering a price on ebay. Ebay would probably be quicker. Quote:- shorke

Ah, okay thanks. I definitely have a new one as mine has the silver screening at the top and bottom like the photo on the right. I was worried there for a minute, I thought the whole grill was supposed to be silver and that I had gotten an old one, haha. Quote:- shorke

I thought I had a new silver screen version but now I'm not so sure. What does that even mean? The actual grill over the driver? Or the actual white/silver driver behind the grill? http://www.headfonia.com/sennheiser-hd650-600-and-580-updated-drivers/ This is all I could find on it and that...- shorke

Yeah, basically. The O2 is great and will have no problem powering nearly anything you throw at it and it is nice and affordable. I was just saying if he wanted to avoid software EQ and just use hardware colorization (I didn't research the m-stage but I'm assuming it is just naturally dark and...- shorke

Does the headband get easier to adjust over time? Right now it is incredibly stiff to adjust, and it usually pulls out more than one notch or sometimes half a notch, making it hard to get both sides even fitting.- shorke

Quote: Mine are brand new silver ones and they sound great, I was just saying that the very laid back presentation of the HD650s is almost a bit jarring when switching from a less laid back headphone, which leads to it seeming veiled. But, yeah, I have no trouble with slow bass or veils...- shorke

I see, and I can see what you mean, A/Bing between the Q701s and HD650s I feel like I can hear a very slight difference in speed but it is so slight that I'm not sure if it is just my mind playing tricks or not. A/Bing that much, I can also see where the myth of the veil came from. The laid back...- shorke

Well, I used the JDSLabs Pre-assembled O2 and it worked great, the O2 is a very transparent colorless amp, and seems to work well with any headphone I throw at it, so if you want just the headphone (and perhaps the DACs) coloration, the O2 would be good to look into. If you want to color the...- shorke

What do you mean slow? They seem to keep up the beat and speed even on faster songs. Unless slow means something else that I don't know about.- shorke

Man, that extra low-end really gives these headphones the perfect balance of reference and fun, I'm finding I can really just sit back and enjoy the music with these, I can't find a flaw. Everything seems perfectly presented and present. It's great!- shorke

Man, these are great! The bass is at the perfect level, it is audible and enjoyable but doesn't intrude, and those mids are buttery smooth, and the treble is completely non-fatiguing. I can see why these are so highly regarded still. The detail dropoff between these and the Q701s isn't even as...- shorke

I don't have these yet, and I've never had an E10, but looking at specs and what not I don't see why they wouldn't drive these to at least an acceptable level. Hopefully someone else can chime in with some actual experience though. Quote:- shorke
