New DENON "Music Maniac" & "Urban Raver" Lines: D7100, D600, D400 & C300 Impressions Thread
Are there screws to secure the cable to the headphones? Accidental yanks at either end of the cable could mean a fried amp for me...- ShinyFalcon

Can I use only one 9V battery instead of using 2 9V batteries on the BANZAI V2 CMOY Headphone Amplifier? Why/why not?
You will short the batteries if you wire it like that. You need a rail splitter after the switch to create a ground if you want to switch between battery and wall-power. Information on virtual ground: http://tangentsoft.net/elec/vgrounds.html In your case, it can be as simple as adding a...- ShinyFalcon

Can I use only one 9V battery instead of using 2 9V batteries on the BANZAI V2 CMOY Headphone Amplifier? Why/why not?
Minimum voltage for the JRC 4560D opamp is ±4V, which means you'll quickly run into battery life issues. You can't use one battery without modifying the circuit because of the way the Banzai CMOY splits the voltage rails.- ShinyFalcon

Denon AH-D7000
Is the twist above or below the split? If above, try taking the wire the knot and wrap it above the headphones to the other side, etc. My D5000 came with a seemingly permanent twist on the left side above the split until I played around with it. It's hard to explain since I don't remember how I...- ShinyFalcon

Low gain amp that I can build that would output cleanest signal possible
The α20 can be run in unity gain, perfect for IEMs.- ShinyFalcon

The LCDuino-1 I/O processor
If the OLED is similar to the ones used in the Sansa clip, the background will be pitch black. All you'll see in the dark is the colored text, hopefully no light bleeding. Should be a joy to use, but the firmware will need to be updated to include code to blank out the screen.- ShinyFalcon

The LCDuino-1 I/O processor
Looks good. The OLED displays has some unused pins (contrast, backlight), and uses about 10mA more current. I might try one out...- ShinyFalcon

The GrubDAC
I see some potential bridging with the solder strings on the WM8524 and some pins that look unsoldered on the PCM2706. If you're getting 5V on VBUS and 3.3V on the 3V3 checkpoint, then everything is fine voltage wise. Check the crystal as well. Your WM8524 does look like it has pins...- ShinyFalcon

Spectrum Watchers - Are there more of you out there? What's your favorite song to 'watch'?
See if the spectrum gets any snappier with ASIO4ALL. Love the responsiveness of it with any song.- ShinyFalcon

If there is a kink that won't straighten out, try wrapping that side of the cable around the headphone. If you double kink it, wrap it the other way. It's a bit hard to explain, but there's only one way to fix it without cutting up the cable.- ShinyFalcon

I killed my Sansa Clip+ in less than 10 mins.
You can hard reset it if you hold down the power button for a while. It works on the regular Clip, but I haven't had the Clip+ freeze on me yet.- ShinyFalcon

Gamma 1 full++ & 2 build coming up, Got some questions
y2 powering active speakers are fine, but I recommend a preamp in the path because it may be hard to control volume due to the speaker amp's high gain. If using any low impedance phones, just change the output capacitors to 470uF, both y2 and y1. Just note that Windows cannot control the...- ShinyFalcon

When did you start DIY ?
I started around two years ago, so age 19, second year in college. Still a lot of stuff to try out, but have to finish up college before I can really tinker around with something other than headphones. Wish I started earlier.- ShinyFalcon

Sound problems with USB to DAC/amp (static and channel reversal)
Do you know what DAC chip your DAC uses? The Fubar II mentioned uses the PCM2702, and from the pictures I see of the Cantate it also uses the PCM2702. I do not have any problems with my PCM2702 based BantamDAC.- ShinyFalcon
