I auditioned the hd380 just two days ago and was extremely impressed.  I wanted them specifically for tracking vocals in the studio (an upgrade to my old hd280's).  I ended up getting a set of dt770 pro instead but this was mainly based on comfort...because the 380's do clamp almost just as hard...
