Has anyone tried the SRH840 pads on these? I've seen people on Amazon rave about them a comfort "mod" to the SRH440s. I figure they would fit? I heard that velour doesn't isolate well (also it's $15 more expensive)-- and I want to be able to use this in the library without disturbing anyone (or...

Most noise isolating portable over ear phones

Does anyone have any more suggestions for closed-ear a sub $150 comfy pair of circumaural study headphones?    I've never used active noise cancellation, but from what I read, they are mainly good at drowning out ambient noise-- what I'm looking for is something that can drown out ambient...

    Dr Dre Beats

they are close to top-of-the-line noise cancelling headphones. "Noise cancelling" being the key phrase, and the limiting factor. They are in their own category, and we can compare them to other gadgets, like the slim Sony single speaker that is supposed to create a 3D effect-- they are good at...

    Seriously...

While Grados could easily compete with skullcandy based on looks alone, what the **** is up with their packaging. "Truly the Worlds finest..." LOL. worst tagline ever, with an ellipses no less. is this box trying to be ironic" ?

Cast your vote for your favorite Elliott Smith album

Elliot Smith is a great Head-Fi mascot because his body of work really synergizes well with headphones. And not only does the highly personal content cater to solo listening, but, the haunting multi tracked voices, the emotive guitar playing, all of it, it really does scale well w/ decent...

Kids are somewhat tech-saavy today. They know how to do product research, they just haven't extended it to headphones (and amazon.com can be very misleading). At my university you seen SkullCandy headphones but also, I see some ATH-M50, I saw a kid rocking some Ultrasons S780, etc-- this is just...

^ Understand that HeadFi appeals to everyone, people of all ages, so you get posts like this bc you don't need the resources to get into HiFi you need to be into ferarris, so for ferrarichat there's just a built in arrogance where you wouldn't even considering discussing Ford or any other...

    Headphones for my situation?

ATH-M50 are great for your type of music, they are closed ear (meaning they isolate i.e you can use them in the library) and right at your price range. They also are not excessively bulky and look very good for walking around. Read some reviews, they are pretty beloved around here.

1st legit musical hf the SR225i-- price point?

arrived today, mfaughn shipped on monday. USPS is great. initial impressions: yes yes yes yes. I'm keeping these. They feel like they might fall off my head, but they don't, which is awesome, and which makes them very comfortable, even with the bowl pads, though granted I haven't had a...

Question about 1/8 to 1/4 adapter

big terminations can put stress on poor quality jacks, though headphone amps typically do not qualify but you can't be too careful. I think you're all right, typically the connection is super solid out of any amp. all I know is that I ****ed up the headphone jack in my phone with a large 1/4 ->...

    Best headphones for Beatles music?

if you like the ms-1s dont even think about upgrading imo. I don't consider the Beatles to be a headphone dependent band, even the new remasters, I wouldn't think about mixing them with up with equipment, the only thing i could think of w/ the new remasters is I would try listening to them on a...
