Replacement Headphone Cable dual-entry, 2.5mm L/R connectors to 3.5mm
I have a set of headphones from some random company that has a removable cable. The cable doesn't work anymore I used them for a workout buddy), and they're just expensive enough that I want a replacement cable. The cable is L/R mono 2.5mm plugs on one end, a mic in the middle, and a 3.5mm TRRS...- Sambones

ESMOOTH - Gorgeous headphones...
I have these headphones under the brand name "TRIBECA Aviator." I bought them for $60ish, and as compared to a Beyerdynamic dt770, they are markedly rolled off in the highs. It's not a bad sound, and you get accustomed to it, but the roll-off is real.- Sambones

Players/Plugins to add intentional/wideband ringing?
I have really enjoyed comparing what I can see in waterfall graphs to what my experience has been with various headphones. specifically the graphs at en.Goldenears.com. I have made some low-fi and mid-fi purchases, such as the Beyerdynamic DT 770 Pros most recently, and I want to play around...- Sambones

Orthodynamic Roundup
Hey, this is a quick shout-out about materials. Has anyone experimented with the high-frequency attenuation properties of different felts? I was actually wanting to know in reference to cutting the 9-11khz peak on the Beyerdynamic DT770 250's. I know this thread is for orthodynamics, but I...- Sambones

Orthodynamic Roundup
Folly. I just pulled my Realistic Pro 30's out of storage and hooked them up via the speaker outs on my receiver. There's the small headstage, sure enough, but also the spectacular imaging! On Here and Heaven off of Yo-Yo Ma et al's The Goat Rodeo Sessions, the female lead was almost nuzzling...- Sambones

Is there an updated pricelist that includes the ES-660EB/CR? Even if they sound like turds, those look like perfect donorphones. I would also be interested in the ES-666's. Thanks.- Sambones

Orthodynamic Roundup
To get a differently FR'd backwave, to cut down on backwave cancellation? To provide the reflex-dot effect, by having a reflector lined up behind the front holes?- Sambones

hi...new here
A warning: be really sure you know why you want to do this project. You can waste a lot of money on DIY projects and still not get a decent result. You should post your idea in the DIY forum, and maybe some of them could even give you advice on how to synthesize it. As a suggestion, you...- Sambones

The best friend for the Creative Aurvana Live!?
I would look into the Asus Xonar series, if you want Dolby Headphone support. But, basically, what you just described is exactly how the Aurvana Live!'s are: very laid-back presentation with a small sound-stage but excellent directionality. You aren't going to improve that by amping. I am...- Sambones

The best friend for the Creative Aurvana Live!?
it actually sounds like you have a cable problem. The Aurvana Live should give good positioning (one of the best I've heard, despite the small stage). I would try recabling them. It really isn't that hard, and you can buy a cheap pair of headphones to practice on, first. ---er, it really...- Sambones

How about these? They use a different frame, but it's both cheap and metal. http://cgi.ebay.com/Koss-SM-97-Headphones-/200407299062?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item2ea934b3f6#ht_2293wt_1139- Sambones

Scompton, if the Sony XB500/XB700 pads are like the knockoff ueber-plasticy pair I bought at Ross's for $10, the ring is only seated between the fabric screen and the underside of the pads. Admittedly, that is an unlikely scenario. And, if you remember that ATH-2 you sold me a while back...- Sambones

Speaker Restoration? I get the TLC part, but what about specifics
Thanks for the input. The woofer may look alright from this photo, but it looks really dingy in real life. I'll try the brush thing, though. And that's actually foam on the front of the speaker. The Centuries had this characteristic molded foam for the front.
