Just an update: I don't know if I have just become more and more tuned into the headphones' noise profile or if the noise level changes as they age, but by now, especially at home where it's quieter, but at work as well, I can now hear the noise pretty clearly, much more loudly than I remember...

Did you try it for yourself? If not, try to check out a pair and see (or rather hear) for yourself if it'd even be a problem for you. It's not a sharp, piercing hiss, so you might very well find it tolerable, and miss out on an otherwise awesome pair of cans if you don't.

I'd wait a little, this is something quite a few people have noticed, so Audeze might just fix it via a firmware update. Also, I don't think a new pair will do significantly better right now. As others have suggested, it might be because of the construction of the cups (buttons and dials, etc.)...

One other thing about the voice prompts I recently noticed was the the combination of "Power on"/"Power off" is not ideal—especially when not wearing the phones but having them sitting next to you, it's hard to distinguish the two. A better 'contrast' would be nice, like "Power up"/"Power down"...

I bought that one for exactly this purpose, and it certainly is a nice cable. Unfortunately, just like seemingly all the USB 3.x USB-C cables, it is quite stiff. Much stiffer than you'd think from its thickness. Think I better not bend this in a tighter than ~6" diameter/3" radius curve stiff...

Oh, no, I'm definitely not sending them in to Audeze for service! I don't really listen to them without anything playing all that often :stuck_out_tongue_winking_eye:, so it really doesn't bother me. It's like how you can clearly see the film grain or slight noise on a single frame of a movie...
