Is Sennheiser HD598 worth keeping? Or should I return it to Amazon and get $99 back?

I think you meant me, right?  :)   I just get the feeling that the HD598 is now in "cheap" category of headphones.  Most new ones are hovering around $145 to $160.   Or perhaps this is just the result of Amazon selling hundreds, if not thousands, at $99 earlier?   I guess what I'm really...

so you also agree that it's not worth keeping? ($99 or even the usual price of $199)

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Since I will only be using it on the Macbook Air, should I keep the E07K or try the E10K?   Just wondering which one has the better sound. Or is it too close to call?

Is Sennheiser HD598 worth keeping? Or should I return it to Amazon and get $99 back?

I bought the Sennheiser HD598 from Amazon when they had it on sale for $99.(no tax, free 2-day Prime shipping)   After listening to it without a headphone amp, I also tried it with a FiiO E07K USB DAC amp.     I'm still not sure if it's worth $99.  Amazon's holiday return period doesn't end...

Does the E07K sound "better" than the E10K? I'm confused.

received the E10K.     after going back an forth between the E07K and E10K for several hours, I can honest say the E07K sounds better/cleaner. It also helped that the E07K had the ability to adjust the treble/bass/gain to my liking.   The E10K also had a tiny bit of static noise when turning...

Sony CD3000 vs today's closed cans

Bump. End of 2014. :)   I bought my Sony MDR-CD3000 for around $400 back in 1990 or 1991.   Yes, 23 years ago.     Still love them.  I recently gave it a mini face-lift. (new earpads, headband)  I've always kept  the MDR-CD3000 in its original huge hard case.   However, the original...

Does the E07K sound "better" than the E10K? I'm confused.

That's what I "assumed" as well. :)  I'm wondering if my ears can actually hear a difference, using identical PC and headphones.   Guess I should just order the E10K and compare it to my current E07K.   (then return whichever one that sounds worse)

Good point!      Wait... are you saying that the E10K has this problem? (since it draws power directly from the PC's USB oprt)

The FiiO E10K--all-new DAC and amp stages

That's what I don't get about Fiio.  They build such wonderful devices but choose to include inferior USB cables.  I was kind of shocked when I saw how poor my E07K's USB cable was.  I immediately ordered a different one from Amazon for $4 and it was 10 times the quality of the Fiio one.

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

That's one of the reasons I almost bought the E10K.  It only uses power drawn from the USB port.     I wonder if they can implement something in the E07K's firmware so that allows the user to manuall stop it from drawing power from the battery.  (when plugged into a PC or Macbook USB port)

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Thanks. That makes sense. :)   The only other thing I'm confused about is the USB charging. I've read several post on this and still can't figure it out. If I have the E07K plugged into a PC via USB all the time, should I turn the USB charging off?   When charging is off, does the E07K's...

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

Thanks!  So the soundcards on my PC and Macbook do get involved in the process? (even if it's just the volume)   I do leave it at roughly at 90%.   On the E07K side, I have the gain at 6dB or 12dB, depending on what I'm listening to, with volume at 20 to 30.  My Sennheiser HD598 soudn...

I don't have anything that's made by Sony or Phillips?  Are you replying to me or someone else?    The E07K is selected as the sound device on the PC.   I just tried this on my other PC, as well as a Macbook Air.  They also act the same.  The computer's master volume control raises or...

FiiO E07K ANDES Review and Help Thread

no, that's not the case.   the volume control on the PC is independent of the E07K's volume control.    if I lower the PC volume control to 50%, then I have to raise the E07K's volume up, in order to make in louder.   now I'm even more confused.... :(
