Los Angeles Meet - Mid to Late August 2012 @ LAX - Interest Check

I'm definitely interested from NoCal, and would favor Irvine for completely personal reasons.  I like a mix of small rooms and larger rooms.  The small rooms are great for listening, but are not conducive to the social aspects of the event.

    y1 gamma-1 DAC

txlee, The Gamma 1 can be used with headphones directly if the output coupling caps are substituted....you will find this discussion elsewhere in this thread. It requires changing the standard C24D and C25D to 470uF caps. However, this is not a self powered DAC. It requires an external power...

Bay Area Meet (California) February 11th, 2012 INTEREST THREAD

I will plan to attend and bring some DIY gear as well.  Sorry I had to abandon the last meet for work

Bay Area Meet (California): February 19th, 2011

CeeTee, I noticed you have not updated the attendance list recently.  It appears there may be only room for 40 or so people if each person who wants to show uses only 1/2 table (some probably need a whole table).  It might be nice to see how many attendees there are now, and how many want to...

Bay Area Meet (California): February 19th, 2011

Hope to be there with my Lexicon RT-20 as a source, an AMB Gamma2 DAC, a Luxman SQ-N100 amp and some Sennheiser HD-650 cans.  Looking forward to it!  Hope to see AMB's new preamp.

NorCal - SF Bay Area Feb 27 Meet Impressions

It was a lot of fun, and also very interesting running ‘The DAC Challenge’ at the meet. I believe 35 people actually sat down to compare the DAC 1 to the AMB Gamma 2 DAC, but only 33 made entries on the survey form and then proudly displayed their ‘Challenge’ buttons to spread the word. This...

    Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread

Kranious, Regulated 5v wallwarts with the small tip are hard to find. I used the Jameco 164101 retipped with the Jameco 71192 plug.....if you do this, pay close attention to the polarity. The 164101 is a 500mW unit.

    Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread

mace1337, If you go to AMB's web site, you will find links to separate web pages for all of AMB's supported DIY projects: AMB Laboratories DIY Audio Site From there you can link to the sites for the y1 and y2 that include full parts lists for each. The parts list for the y1 includes a matrix...

    Gamma-2 (γ2) DAC Thread

I just completed two Gamma 2s using the Full++ configuration of the Gamma 1 boards and using the AD8656 Opamp at U7 and 450uF caps at C20 and C26 on the Gamma 2 board and C24D and C25D on the Gamma 1 board to allow direct headphone driving at both analog outputs. The volume when driving...

    y1 gamma-1 DAC

I finished up my set of Gamma One DACs. All are working perfectly. I posted earlier regarding using only a flux pen and the PCB tinning to solder the ICs......it works very well where the tinning is thick and results in a very clean job, but you must check each pin for electrical continuity and...

    Post pics of your builds....

I finished up this set of Gamma One DACs. Very nice SPDIF/USB 24/192 DAC using piggy-back DAC and USB boards.
