DENAFRIPS FPGA Firmware Update (12TH Anniv.)
It’s nice to see the updates from 60 to 77. I was lit about Ares12th and now it’s Pontus. I still have the Ares12th with the latest firmware. Love it! I run Simaudio’s Moon 340 with a Sony SACD player and Rotel cd player. Qobuz for streaming through a small Samsung laptop.I just purchased...- Regs4

DENAFRIPS FPGA Firmware Update (12TH Anniv.)
Yes. 3.12 or 3.14 for the USB MCU but the latest actual firmware is 1.8 and I think it sounds great after a short burn in at least with the Ares ll 12th.- Regs4

DENAFRIPS FPGA Firmware Update (12TH Anniv.)
To me the 1.8 fw for the Ares 12th was a slam dunk difference. Better top and lower end while the mid held its own. 1.0 is nostalgic since it was a far cry better than no DAC but it had less clarity and a muddier sound after many hours. Viva la difference!- Regs4

Slow and steady works well with 1.8 for my taste even though most of my taste is jazz. I wish you pleasant discoveries. I’m very impressed with the product.- Regs4

Windows 10/11 has a signature driver policy. If a downloaded driver does not fit in Windows cache of Trusted drivers you cannot install it unless you restart in advance options mode and press 7 to turn off the requirement. You will then be able to follow Denafrips installation procedure.- Regs4

DENAFRIPS FPGA Firmware Update (12TH Anniv.)
I’m love loving version 1.8. The original fw became bland and muddy. I really encourage folks who try the new fw to log some time and then play with the filtering to your liking. Alvin called NOS a chunkier sound for vocals and jazz but liked the slow filtering best for overall performance. I...- Regs4

I hope you gave the system time to marinade? Also, try NOS. It’s quite good for vocals and jazz.- Regs4
