The fundamental difference is that RU7 resamples everything, while FC6 has a choice: OS or NOS. Even so, the FC6 sounds more analog and is more portable /smaller/.

Very briefly - warm, natural, balanced analog sound. You enjoy the music and are not looking for any technical irregularities. The dongle is pleasantly small. I don't miss balanced output at all. Leather case + leather box, nice bonus. MQA - if you need it.

I am a new FC6 owner and purchased for 225 bucks and installed fw 1.04. Everything without any problems.

I haven't heard the D3, but the FC6 should be similarly tuned... I own several usb dongles and the FC6 is my first R2R, and I was also concerned about the sound, but I'm surprised by the SQ and I'm enjoying it.

Fiio, try to answer us if it would be possible, with some later fw, support for MQA.
