    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

If we all listened to frequency sweeps instead of music, then yes the dip is unmistakable. Given I do not have the tools to properly set EQ it's hard to put a number on it. Listening through 4978Hz, 3729.3Hz and 2489Hz frequencies on each ear, the difference between these frequencies is...

SineGen, pretty neat little tool. I can hear 26Hz and the dip is audible from 3.5kHz through around 4.4kHz through my soundcard. Laptop speakers very barely audible at 92Hz with my ear right up to the speaker ;)

I have some angora (rabbit) wool to try this with haha. I haven't opened the cups up yet - would someone be so kind as to post brief instructions to help with this process?

Quote:   If you had the red HD681's I'd take them, or maybe if the price is right. Chuck them on Trade Me, you may be able to make your money back fairly easily.

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Quote:   I would suggest you try the HD681 EVO, you will find they don't have the harsh highs of other Superlux models, they appear (from product photos) to provide less clamping force than the HD662 models, they ccan be had for $50 or less, and they just sound so much better than $50. I...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Quote:   From my experience, yes. Much like any other decent headphones I have tried these allow for clear audio resolution, which means that good audio sounds good, and bad audio sounds bad. You may be able to EQ out your source to sound OK, but anything lower than 256kbps is just...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Some mods were required when the headband gave in and snapped in two... I cut and glued some scrap leather (we have heaps of this in our basement). The photos are not super clear as they came from my phone, but the leather looks sweet and works well. I would totally consider buying the...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Quote:   I had to go back a few pages to figure this post out :) If you want to adjust headband tension/position, I would suggest you open the sides of the headphones up, and tweak the rubber band. In my case I opened them to fix the band which I had torn due to pulling, but I untwisted...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Bit of glue, refit the rubber bands, and reassembled. I have straightened the rubber bands (less twists = longer band) and done it up tight around the strap. The result is that the strap is loose fitting and won't need any stretching. The headband may now be a little loose but will try them...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Quote:   Maybe a number 0 haircut. No model number visible on the headphones only "Superlux", and "HD681 EVO". I will take a look on the box at home maybe... I will likely use a lighter rubber band to the ones in here to reduce tension when put on my longish head. I have fully removed...

    [Review] Superlux HD681 EVO

Clearly my head is the problem with these headphones. I plan on fixing this initially with some Super Glue and maybe some reinforcing. You can see that the stretching of the headband material has caused some stress and some little tears have started... http://i.imgur.com/qZ0AOGC.jpg

Quote:   I wear exclusively Acetate/Plastic frames all day every day and have found these headphones to be very comfortable I can't feel any pressure whatsoever on the glasses with the velour pads.
