MrSpeakers Alpha PRIME: Impressions and Discussion Thread

Yeah, the treble sounded really good on the modded HD800. There was just more of it than I would like. I've heard an LCD3F, and I really liked it. It just wasn't as large of an improvement over the primes as I thought it would be, which I guess just goes to show how much I really like these...

MrSpeakers Alpha PRIME: Impressions and Discussion Thread

I listened to an HD800 with the anax mod, and even then it had more treble than I think I'd like. Is the HD800S similar in that regard? I guess I should mention that I tend to like a chunkier sound for lack of a better term. Also, I've gotten rid of almost all the dynamic headphones I've owned...

MrSpeakers Alpha PRIME: Impressions and Discussion Thread

So I recently picked up a used pair of alpha primes, and I've gotta say, I didn't expect to like them this much. I really can't think of anything I don't like about these headphones, aside from the fact that they can be a bit bright for me on some tracks (though I just took the pads off and...

    NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions

I actually haven't tried any others so far, but I intended to order the matsu****as and the gold lions. However, I ordered the orange globes first, and once I heard them I was pleased enough that I didn't feel the need to order any others. I'm definitely going to order more orange globes when...

    Sennheiser HD650 & Massdrop HD6XX Impressions Thread

I was able to find a matched pair of Amperex orange globes on ebay discounted to $50 because the silk screen had worn off of them, but the same seller also had normal ones for less than $100 per matched pair.

    NEW Schiit Lyr 2: Impressions

I have the Lyr 2 and he-500. I also got the socket savers and a pair of Amperex orange globes in addition to the stock tubes, and I've thoroughly enjoyed the setup.

The Audeze LCD-2 Ortho thread (New)

I debated the fazor decision for quite some time and ended up buying a pair of non fazor rev2 from the classifieds recently. The bass is wonderful, and they sound warmer than the he-500s I was using if that helps. I'm extremely happy with them

Battle Of The Flagships (58 Headphones Compared)

This thread has been very helpful to me, and it's the first place I check if I'm thinking about getting a new headphone. Thanks so much for all the time and effort you put into this

    New Member Introductions thread

I think the 598s sound good without an amp. I tried them straight out of my laptop, phone, and iPod. Guitars sound great with them, but if you feel like you'd be unhappy if the m50s had any less bass then you might not like the 598s. As far as portability, I think they're very light and...

    New Member Introductions thread

I think they both sound pretty rich, but they're different. I prefer the bass on the m50s (though it can be a bit boomy sometimes) and the mids on the 598s. The bass doesn't sound bad on the 598s, but I do wish there was just a liiiiiiittle bit more of it. I think the treble also sounds a bit...

    Audeze LCD-2 Impressions Thread

I received a pair of LCD-2s today that I ordered from the classifieds here, and I'm loving them. This is certainly the most satisfying audio related purchase I've made. Time to listen to more music

    New Member Introductions thread

Hello,    I've been reading Head-Fi for quite some time now but only recently made an account. The majority of what I listen to is metal, but I love all music. I have Audio Technica ath-m50s, Sennheiser hd598s, Shure srh840s, Hifiman he-500s, and now Audeze lcd-2 rev2 (bought from the...
