    The PENON official thread

Yeah that's the thing, even with the Symphonium Titan I'm actually thinking of putting a bass shelf in around 30hz or so and shifting that energy into midbass but we'll see, it's on preorder so it'll take a while. There aren't many charts or impressions on the Penon Voltage but the more I look...

    The PENON official thread

It may not be an easy comparison but it is a valuable comparison at least for me. Voltage includes a bass switch so it invites comparison to bassy IEMs. Some of my favorite headphones are neutral/all-rounders that I EQ to have more bass - they tend to have better tunings and their drivers handle...

    The PENON official thread

@-rowan- If you don't mind me asking, how would you compare Penon Voltage to your Symphonium Titan? I just placed an order for the Titan but I'm between both, I skew basshead but I have grown to appreciate good staging and detail retrieval especially when paired with a bassy-enough signature.

    Denon AH-D9200 - 2018 Flagship - Impressions Thread

My suggestion for anyone looking at a single-unit DAC+AMP would be RME ADI-2. That's what I use, and it will be perfect for anything but the most power-hungry headphones. In-built EQ is also a differentiator and a game-changer IMO.

Mid Fi - General chat for all discussions and general chat a Thread for all.

With full-sized headphones I feel that adding EQ into the mid-fi segment can get you very special tunings that are very difficult to replicate as a whole package with any other headphone, has anyone here been taking mid-fi IEMs and messing with EQ to see if something great they own is actually...

Head-Fi Basshead IEM thread (lists page 1)

This may be kind of a weird question but if I wanted DD bass in a musically neutral/balanced presentation with pressure venting/relief for $1.5k and under used/new, I feel like the IEM market has many contenders in this bracket and I want to be inclusive of the options - what would you folks...

Headphones to IEMs knowledge check and help

Hey folks I think I'm going to move from headphones to IEMs due to general comfort issues with glasses and full size headphones, been years of telling myself I don't need to do that but looking at the list of headphones I've sold at this point... reality bites. What do I need to know about IEMS...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

Send them an email to clarify, their contact info is on their website. They basically have 2 main products which are called EMu-Teak and EMu-Walnut, with the Walnut being the 40mm driver and Teak the 50mm driver. They additionally can make extra cups from different woods for you so I imagine the...

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I use regular. I won't disagree that different woods can impart different qualities to sound, but my controversial take is that it's largely irrelevant. If they're the same price, get the one you prefer the look / physical weight of more.

The Hardest hitting Headphones are.. ( "The EXTREME BASS Club")

I would echo the advice to go for EMu-Teaks, IMO they are by far the best Fostex-based including Fostex's own headphones from what I've heard. I haven't listened to the Shure SRH1540 but they would be a different sound signature that should still be able to reproduce bass well from what reviews...

    JM Audio Editions XTC Headphones

Looking at the XTC-2.5C vs XTC-2O, is the choice just whether you need isolation or not? I generally expect Closed backs to have better bass quantity but with the tunings and reviews I've read it seems the Open can be more than sufficient, though I am a bass head. I also can't wrap my head...

    Meze Audio 109 Pro

What are headphones that follow a similar sound profile to the Meze 109 Pro either as sidegrades or upgrades? I feel like Meze Empyrean 1 might be an upgrade/sidegrade and looking at this thread I've noticed the QUAD Era1 might be a sidegrade, what else can folks think of? Doesn't matter to me...
