W40 vs W50
I need to replace my w4r, so naturally the w40 seems like the best option. But for $100 more I'm curious about the w50. I can't seem to find much in terms of comparisons between the two, just a could reviews saying the w50 has a lot of bass. Do they sound like the w40 with added bass, or is it a...- meeklo062704

Westone 4r replacement options
So my beloved w4r's fell out of my pocket yesterday, and the left shell got stepped on. Split the case open, and broken the tip off where the tips connect. They are discontinued, so Westone won't repair them, they just offered a 25% discount on the w40. The custom reshell route gets very mixed...- meeklo062704

Portable gear for Westone 4r...
I am considering getting portable amp/dac combo for my Westone 4r's. I'm currently using them with my HTC M8, and they sound great. I'm just wondering if they'll sound better. I've read a lot of people are pretty happy with the dac in the M8, but I'm sure there's better. Being IEM's, is an amp...- meeklo062704

Headphone Input Switcher?
I juggle my Sennheiser HD650's between my Bottlehead Crack, Essence stx, and Focusrite Scarlett 2i2. The Crack is for listening to music, the stx is for surround, and the 2i2 is the only thing that will properly output my guitar from amplitube. My computer is setup for my couch instead of a...- meeklo062704

Bottlehead Crack interference
I saw a YouTube video about interference being caused by being too close to one of (I'm having a brain cart and can't remember what they're called) big green boxes that the power companies work on that powers a neighborhood. Granted, the thing was in his backyard, but its a possibility. When in...- meeklo062704

Bottlehead Crack interference
It's amazing how much a hum can drive you nuts. I was also told to try running a ground wire from the chassis of the crack to the power supply to eliminate one probable cause. Never needed to try it, but seemed interesting.- meeklo062704

Bottlehead Crack interference
The cheater plug served its purpose while I used it. I finally quit being lazy and rearranged some furniture so I could use different plugs that run on different breakers. I still get a hum sometimes, but it goes away if I turn the Crack off then right back on. According to Doc I have a bad...- meeklo062704

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Pretty sure it was a couple of bad rips. I've been comparing different songs played from different sources and amps, and comparing the 4r to the HD650. Aside from the sound stage and signature differences, it is coming out the same so far. I just picked mine up from Amazon for $380.- meeklo062704

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I'm going to keep checking on them. The static came through on my HD650s to on the same songs, so I want to be sure before I start putting in return requests. As a side thought, has anyone reshelled their 4r's recently? I really like the idea of it, but I have heard from different people...- meeklo062704

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
Plugged directly into my phone, and with the adapter to both soundcard and amp. I was praying it wasn't defective. The only worse than waiting for package arrival is waiting for it a second time. Damn you cruel fate! Which would be better/quicker? Going through westone directly, or going back...- meeklo062704

Westone 4 Impressions and Reviews Thread
I just got my 4r's from Amazon today, and am loving them so far. I just have one question. Is it normal to hear some static on vocals when they're brand new? I started out with some mp3s on my phone, and chalked the static up to 128k mp3s. I tried them on my computer when I got home with flac...- meeklo062704

Custom iem vs universal reshell value?
That's the hardest part of making a decision between ciem vs uiem, single vs dual vs triple based on opinions of others. The best way I've found is to read multiple reviews about a pair, and if you read the same thing in all of them, it's more than likely true. The thing that really made me...- meeklo062704

Custom iem vs universal reshell value?
I have been doing reading on iem, and have seen numerous threads about reshells of universal iem's. Is there an advantage to buying universal to reshell vs a custom? I am trying to make a decision between a triple.fi 10 vs westone 4r vs westone um3x, and see that the price of them with a reshell...- meeklo062704

Audio confilcts
With Wasapi enabled, jriver won't run an audio stream at all. I just get an error message. I tried the full combination of things between Wasapi (with and without event style), asio, exclusive access setting, enabled and disabled secondary audio devices, and I'm still getting the same thing. Audio confilcts
I have to stop it completely to have another audio stream go. The outlook notification sound actually stopped the audio from the movie I'm watching when the head-fi thread update email came in. I'm just trying to find out if there's a way I can not run into these conflicts every time.- meeklo062704
