Holo Audio Spring R2R DAC
I think the Titanis circuit gives a bit better measurements. The Spring 3 L1/L2 measure already exceptionally good (USB input) - if one can hear the miniscule difference is another thing, i personally don't think i could do it. That is why i went with the L1. But if money is no object then one...- McPh1st0

Why don't you get a repeater with ethernet output (i have the AVM Fritz!Repeater 3000). You can connect also a network switch to the repeater (which is what i have done) and you will not care anymore If a device has WiFi or not...- McPh1st0

I wouldn't use anything other than USB with Holo Spring 3 dacs. I you wish to use I2S make sure that the streamer has better oscillators than the May... But the Spring 3 series has very good USB modules (especially the KTE versions) so i would stick with that. Personally i use a Rpi4 running...- McPh1st0

I find it difficult to give an answer to this question. Smooth and warm may mean something different to me than it does to you. I am gonna say that it sounds just right. In comparison to Pontus 2 it has more precise staging, it's bass is more accurate with more punch and less bloated, more...- McPh1st0

Spring 3 L1 & L2 have also galvanically isolated USB module. Spring 3 kte has the fancier USB module from May (Titanis chip). Spring 3 L1 and L2 give also outstanding measurements (check out the review from L7audiolab). If the (marginally?) better USB module and a bit of silver wiring is worth...- McPh1st0

Holo Audio Red Streamer
@golden Are there any sonic differences to be expected (for the better) If the Red is used in streamer mode (USB output) in comparison to standard Pi4? Dac in this case is Spring 3 Level 1. And what about I2S from Red (streamer mode) vs USB from Pi4?- McPh1st0
