Yesterday I received the RCA Command 5670 tube and gave it a listen last night. After 2 hours, I got so lost in the music that I forgot I was supposed to be comparing tubes, haha. The RCA is great, but a slightly darker and smaller headstage than the GE 5 star. If I had to choose my favorite it...

RSL just released the Speedwoofer 10E and it's priced at $299. Quite a bargain for a brand that most people love.

Vali 3 all day long over the Piety. Currently using GE 5* tube and it sounds amazing! Bifrost 2 > Vali 3 > hd58x = bliss Edit- I'm not selling the piety. It's a great amp. I will find a use for it, or give it to one of my kids.

I completely agree with your assessment of the GE 5* and the uncanny headstage it provides. Quite often, I think someone is in the room with me, only to realise it's just background vocals behind my head. Please let me know if any of your other tubes are able to beat the 5*.

Thanks. I am awaiting your report of the tube variants before ordering. I currently have an RCA Command inbound, and am looking forward to comparing it to the GE 5*. The sound stage with the GE is so good that I'm not sure I want to take it out.

Exactly. I had a Vali 2 a few years ago. I tried a few tubes and they all sounded pretty much the same.

I have not had time to compare directly to the Piety, and I'm not very good at describing comparisons between amps. I mostly posted my thoughts to let people know that the Vali 3 responds well to tube rolling. If I have a chance later this week, I will make some notes comparing the two. Only way...
