what Anaxilus &  Digital-Pride  suggested is not a downgrade... it's' just a two different way to get what you are looking for at the lowest cost possible   you are not getting the most out of your current headphones in the way you like, an amp will help.  any headphone if amp'ed properly...

i have Q701, DT990, HD558 (with the foam mod done), HD25-1 ii, and currently my go-to headphone at home is the DT990... it's just more colourful.  the Q701 sounds very reference next to it.  the HD558 is just so-so and good for pop genre to me.    I would like to know what amp you are using...

i second (or third) the Woo Audio WA6 SE make sure you get the Sophia Princess tube..  my Q701 sound so great with it...  after hearing that... those sub par headphones / earphones sounded like crap... so beware.. it gets addicted... :)   Quote:
