Agree word by word. I mostly use the w4R with a 2 pin epic mic cable as my office/commute go to although I have 30 other IEMs including the umpro50 and other westones.

W4R and um3x feel better(quality) and maybe sound better that w40 and umpro 30. What they new series brought in my opinion is even better comfort, which is very important for IEMs, and lower quality :)

Yes my um3x is built in Colorado like a tank but also my w4R is built in china like a tank. Now my umpro 50 is built in colorado like a cheap plastic toy. I would blame quality control and vision, not manpower

I doubt this works with Westone without exposing the connector to air and oxidation, like all standard MMCX connectors they fit Shure and others perfectly, but westone and their extra point out connector can only use a special connector that comes with extra plastic to cover the ear piece...

I agree with you, BUT, I n the last 3 year of my craze with buying IEMs, I didnt arrive to a pair that has the comfort+isolation like Westone. There is something magical about the weight vs shape vs sound that is amazing. Shure has an amazing isolation but no where near westone in comfort.  ...

you nailed it.   I hope they come with a new model that is really studied, designed and implemented well. I am a great Westone Fan and they have had issues in the UM PRO series. Like you the latest warranty replacement for my UM Pro 50 had the new cable, and a MUCH better assembly quality.

I am sorry that you didnt get the whole story...

Again, maybe I was not clear. The defected unit was returned to the seller in hong kong in 2014. This is another unit i bought in 2015 and all I am saying is i warned myself about the quality control and didnt take heed of my own warning

I love the sound and comfort of the umpro50 and I am willing to bet on a replacement being built time (for a third time)
