LOL Layla has more to hold on to then?!  Layla's the big sister that's good at everything, and so so clean.  Roxanne is the dirty one who likes to get down with the funky sh!t... and Angie, well she's just learning the ropes but it's the quietest ones who always turn out the best!

Clarity, air, expansiveness.  Angie does this better than Roxanne, but Roxanne counters with a heftier punch and a darker, more enveloping sound.  I prefer deftness and articulation in my music, and Angie delivers this without compromising too much on the low-end extension.  Bass still has punch...

The Angie to me is similar to the IE800 in terms of its openness and clarity (which is exceptional in the IE800) but adds midrange warmth and low end support in comparison.  Think of Angie as midway between the Roxanne and IE800 and you'll be quite close.

    Agree absolutely with the previous poster - if you love the sound signature of the W40, then you should definitely audition the W60 as it is everything the 40 is, but more.  Better defined bass with more extension, but nowhere near as bloated as the W50, with a well projected midrange and...

Exactly this, hence why I made the update about the foam tips.  I am sure I'll continue to make minor adjustments to the tips used over the next 100 hours again..

  At the time of writing the review, I had played in excess of 200 hours of music through my own shop-bought Angie.  When I haven't been listening directly, they've still been plugged in breaking in.  I made a comment at the end about already there being a big difference even after just 12...

Custom Angie is realistically taking between eight to ten weeks for delivery - this info is from JH directly.  CF bodies are now not being given a timescale as JH are quite behind in their orders.  Four to six months is probably realistic right now until the initial rush of orders dies down.  ...

Just a small update - clarity seems to improve slightly when using the foam tips as opposed to silicone.  Going to try some Complys next...

I concur with previous sentiment. The W50 for me is the weakest part of the Westone W range. It is arguably the darkest sounding in the line-up, with little projection and a very bottom-heavy presentation. I use an AK120II modified by Red Wine Audio for my day-to-day listening whilst travelling. The mod really helps add drive and punch to the Angies and largely negates the need for an extra headphone amp. At home I use a Primare Pre60 feeding a Naim Headline with PSU headphone amp

Not necessarily a bad thing having to use Apple earbuds for a while. It reaffirms the knowledge that the money spent on proper phones REALLY is worthwhile!!
