How do you start with a new CD?
Read liner notes while playing all the way through. As for those stickers on top of the CD case, they are fairly easy to remove if you carefully pop off the bottom hinge of the CD case, and then you can just peel the sticker off one half at time by opening the case from bottom to top, and... -
What do you call this
I'm a little similar in my mixed up handedness. Left handed: write, hold table tennis racket, carry a briefcase Right handed: shoot gun, shoot pool, bat, golf And I was not forced to write with either hand...that's just how it worked out.- LarryS

Do you still listen to the music you grew up with?
Erik, It's rather serendipitous that you posed this question now, as I am currently going through my old vinyls from my college days (I'm 53 now) and have been buying them on CD. I actually just received 2 CDs today from Amazon . I have some vinyls which are not available on CD, and I am... -
What song was No.1 on the day you were born?
I'll try to not read too much into this, but I certainly won't share this result with my sister Ain't That a Shame - Pat Boone -
Classical Buffs: How Do You Tag?
It may be overkill, but I use a variant of the system outlined here: Taming iTunes for Classical Music -
Mahler Sym #2, EMI-Klemperer, Orchestra seating question
Thanks to everyone for all the input! It was certainly educational, and I now suppose that the Klemperer layout may be closer to the layout that Mahler would have preferred, rather than the modern seating arrangement I am accustomed to. I suppose I will have to keep listening and expanding on... -

Mahler Sym #2, EMI-Klemperer, Orchestra seating question
Thank you! I had looked on the Philharmonia's website, but with less success than you. The seating arrangement could also be that arrangement which is just beneath the one you presented: I remember hearing a harp on the left. Now I'm going to go have to find another Mahler's #2 for... -
Mahler Sym #2, EMI-Klemperer, Orchestra seating question
I have one copy (I know, neophyte ) of Mahler's #2 on EMI with Klemperer conducting the Philharmonia, and something drives me to distraction every time I listen to it. In contravention to what I usually hear, the first violins appear to be seated on the right side of the orchestra (right... -
Considering Amp upgrade from EMP, ~$2,000
Everyone, thanks for the feedback. FallenAngel: The Beta 22 is DIY, right? No way for me. I can't solder worth beans, and I've have totally screwed up some DIY interconnects I was trying to make. All that silver wire down the drain... Uncle Erik: The Zana Deux is very attractive, both...- LarryS

Considering Amp upgrade from EMP, ~$2,000
I love my Earmax Pro, but I've been considering an amp upgrade for quite awhile now. I have the Sennheiser 600 w/ Equinox cable, and listen to mainly female vocals, a little rock, and have been spending quite a bit of time lately rediscovering the classicals. The rest of my equipment is in my...- LarryS
